Tough Shots!

This is a tough shot Thanks,

Joey,
The road player in my "Straight pool escape" thread makes this shot within 4 or 5 attempts. It is very similar to your shot, I'm not sure which one is more difficult; I think yours might be a touch easier (does the extra distance between balls help or hurt??? I'm clueless).

If any of you have a difficult shot (not a trick shot) please post it here. Thanks,
JoeyA

Joey,
Here is another shot that he does. Set up the 2 balls as indicated (both balls frozen to the rail), then try to shoot the object ball into each of the 6 pockets sequentially. Count how many tries it takes you to finish pocketing the ball in all 6 (use the same starting position for each shot). He's done it in as few as 11 attempts (for 6 successful shots).

If there are any desperate trick shot fanciers out there; I could post the routes and English required to make this shot in each of the 6 pockets.

P.S. - I've seen it done, and it looked so hard I've never tried it myself.

Here's another one. Louie Knott, partner of Earl Heisler with the infamous Sports Palace of New Orleans, once bet me 50-1 that I could not make this shot. I said OK and set it up and then he said but you only get ONE TRY. I said OK once more and fired it in the hole not expecting to make it on my first try. The cue twirled itself on the right side of the object ball and the object ball and the cue ball each found a hole to fall in. The one ball in the left foot string pocket and the cue ball in the left head string pocket. Louie, always the guy looking for an edge bellowed "NO GOOD, you scratched" and refused to pay off even though there was no stipulation about scratching. The rest of the pool room booed him but he refused to pay. What do you do when its the owner of the pool room and you like playing there?

I'm a glutton for punishment on the field of green but this sounds like something only Vernon would do. I'll think about trying it....

im clueless, its not working. ill keep tryin different stuff though. thanks anyways

It's worth the learning curve. Trust me. It really is easy.

You may have to download the FREE program necessary to operate the program which is necessary to run the CueTable. It may be Flash Macromedia or something close to that. It should prompt you to download the program.

I'm sure SOMEONE has the explicit instructions for newbies in a format that covers all of the steps.

Do you see a pool table when you go there?

YES. But you will probably have to download the free program that allows you to use the Cuetable. There are no strings attached to the free program....

ok, i am very computer illeteate, i tried copy and paste and it doesnt give me the option to paste. i clicked on the pencil and it takes me to an empty table and when i right click on the table to paste it doesnt come up as an option. what am i doing wrong?

OK you are really close to getting this. You do click on the pencil and you should be at an empty table but don't right click the table. If you are at Cuetable.com after you copied the Start to End infor you need to click on the Import Icon I think. :-)

It really is easy. Trust me.

The extra features are a little more complicated because cuetable has so much ability to communicate your shot.

I used to gamble on this shot, many years ago...cut the one ball backwards, into the close corner pocket. I've made in in under 5 tries, but used to bet on 50, and win every time.

I wonder if people with Low Squirt shafts have trouble making this type of shot? I mean can they make this shot at all.

Here's a shot that was one of the favorites of Johnny Ervolino. You are playing one pocket and you have pocket A. You need one ball to win. As the three ball is blocking the long bank, Johnny would hit the four ball straight up table and park the cue in the spot where the four could carom in off of it. Awesome shot!

That's stout. Making this in only 3 tries will earn my respect for life. I might could make it in 50 tries.
When I was just learning to play I lived near Minnisota Fats. He would shoot a similar shot but the OB was on the center diamond and he'd place the cue on top of the rail on the other center diamond. I could make this too even then. I think that little extra length (on top of the rail) made all the difference and it was actually a hustle, since I was making it before I knew which end of the cue to hold.

But really all you need is a good stroke and lots of left hitting rail first.

This is a tough shot that I first saw a local player named Wardell shoot this shot here in New Orleans maybe 15 years ago. I believe he said he had developed the shot himself, much like one of Vernon Elliott's shots
Wardell would ask for 50 shots but would make it in under 25 although he would sweat pretty hard at 20.

I like shots that came up in a gambling game which are unique although this isn't one of them.

For those of you not familiar with Wei' creation the cuetable, you can view the above shot by selecting all of the text above, starting with START and ending with END-Copy this information then go to .....................
http://cuetable.com Click th...Lots and lots of right and a straight stroke.

This is an interesting tough 2 rail bank shot. It can't go one rail due to the double-kiss. I hit it in a game a few weeks back (playing 'gotta play a tough bank on the 8' in a bar against a way better player ... his idea). Of course I practice it because it's fun.

CueTable Help

Speaking of spin-banks, can't that ball in SJMs one-pocket bank-cueballcarom (wow!) be spun over into the A pocket ?
