Toughest call shots

Basically about a week ago, ran out and missed the eight in the corner sending it to the middle along the short rail.

opponent plays safe, blocking all natural kick shots and double rail shots.(I am not sure of the table layout, but I know he had 6/7 on the table and that all kick shots were blocked sans major english, and that he was left near frozen I think that is why he played safe(he is A+ player, I forget his leave but if he could have ran out, he would have)

So I have to put extreme natural english and kick the eight, so to be safe I called the pocket, and what do you know it hit exactly right to go right in!!!!!

Not bad at all... that's a tough shot.

I have made quite a few 3-rail kicks, but this one was in league. I was playing a guy that was quite a good player and I got into trouble on my runout because I didn't get whitey down far enough to make the 8 in the side. I actually ran into the 12 and knocked it a couple inches deeper, closer to the 8, so it really cut me off. I couldn't see any 1 or 2 rail kicks, so I knew I would have to go deep on a 3 railer to make the 8. There was also a chance to scratch off the 2nd rail into the side. I spun the CB at moderate speed to get the most angle I could and the 8 split the wicket. It was an ESPN shot, but of course, the only one that noticed was my opponent...the rest of the teams had gone to the bar to order!

That is an awesome shot!

Don't you hate it when you have to explain to people the shot because they didnt see it. And they are like, "Wow, great, good job, hey make mine a Budweiser!" It's like a tree falls in the forest...

To me shots don't have to be spetacular. Some shots just give you the warm fuzzies inside. You have to make what may appear like fairly simple shots. In reality they are not easy.

A little precise stroke that puts you perfect while making a tough shot because of where the balls lie. I have made so many I've forgot most as we all have. When it comes down to making a perfect shot for the marbles is different than the one time hail mary. We've all made those at sometime. While I don't discount such shots, its the ones that plays those perfect shots stands out in my mind.

To me pool has always been about feel. You just feel the touch needed with or without english. That is what this game is all about, feel, and I know most of you thought you felt that feel during some of these shots. Well lets see if I hit this with a little left (no that much) ok a little less. Ah right here then you pull the trigger and it goes. That is what makes this game special. Hell the ball can be a fairly simple shot, its where whitey goes is most impressive.

I think everyone here on this tread agrees with you Rod. It's just some shot's you have to go for and you might only make them 3% of the time shooting them. You end up with mixed emotions both elated and sort of dejected because of the luck factor. Then you tell yourself it's not luck because I planned it I shot it and it went. But you know the whole time that a shot like that very rarely will pass your way again and when it does you'll more than likely miss it.

I had this shot come up tonight practicing with a member from here.
I am on the 8 and blocked from a jump and 1 rail kick.
