Tournament Attire

Just wondering, how do you guys and gals dress for local and regional tournaments? I usually wear dress slacks and a golf shirt or button-up. Sometimes I feel overdressed, but I'm more confident when dressed like that, as opposed to jeans or shorts and a T-shirt.

Same except I usually wear a golf shirt instead of a button down. I'd rather wear the button down for my own taste, but since I'm small and I have a really tight stance, I can feel the collar fighting my cue on practice strokes and it bugs the hell out of me.

Personally, I like to go full tuxedo and sometimes I even go white tie. But seriously I think dress pants and a button down is what I prefer most for tournaments that have a dress code. It isn't too resitrictive like wearing a sportcoat might be, but it still looks nice. I always love it when I see pool players wearing a shirt and a tie and a waistcoat. To me that says bad@ss, but if I'm just playing a weekly local tournament I'm wearing a barshirt and jeans.

Slacks and a golf shirt are my preferred attire. Never tried the tie and waistcoat but if it makes me look like a badass, I may have to give it a try. My game certainly doesn't.:o

When I'm going to play in a tough tournament, I go with the thong & tutu. For the shark factor. For all others, jeans & t-shirt.

LOL! Sorry, any tournament I've been to in the South, you can wear anything you damn well please, apparently. I see guys {and girls} in ragged cut-offs, flip-flops, caps forward, backward, and sideways, seldom any kind of shirt besides a t-shirt, jeans, etc. And this included "state tournaments", regional, whatever. In the place I played in in NY, this would not have been allowed for state tournament, I think Joss Tour tournaments, etc.
I've always tried to dress decent, but when the director and the venue don't care......

"I show up at black ties in t-shirt n slippers f#@$ models! I love strippers call me the big tipper with tha big dipper i got queens holdin keys to my zipper!" I agree with "TheKid". Ya gotta be comfortable.

My regular playing attire is jeans, polo shirt & tennis shoes. Sometimes a button shirt. I'm happiest playing in a decent pair of shoes but I don't have a pair I like at the moment. My youngest dog decided they made a great chew toy!

I go with my ever-present Dockers, a polo shirt and soft soled shoes like Rockports.

Edit: The shoes are KEY! I never go to a tournament with shoes that haven't been tried and tested. I have to know that I'll be comfortable after many hours and miles of walking around the table.

I must live in a different south.

Slim low-rise blue jeans, dark brown leather cap toe dress shoes, a matching dark brown leather belt, white ankle socks (very important), a long sleeve lightweight henley with a couple buttons at the top unbuttoned and the sleeves scrunged up about a quarter of the way, and my hair slicked forward and perky...

Lol. ;)

I'm with ya on the shoes - and comfy socks! Especially as I'm getting older:(

Dockers, a polo shirt, and comfortable shoes are my standard dress. Looks decent and very comfortable.

Dockers, Polo Shirt, rubber soled shoes, with Dr. Scholl's inserts.

I have actually found "Tread Safe" brand shoes with the Dr.Scholl's inserts to be extremely comfortable for long hours of play.

I don't own a single pair of bluejeans and only one pair of dress pants to be worn at my funeral or God forbid one of my family and I don't go to weddings. I wear only black shorts and black t shirts to work year round and black shorts and pool tees to pool tournaments, league play or anywhwere else year round. I don't own a Jacket or longsleve shirt either, and there is several AZers on here that can verify this cause I am happily standing in the middle of my wardrobe..Leonard

I get some funny looks at Derby City tournament every year when it is 5 degrees outside and I'm the one going outside in shorts to start the truck

LOL! Where ya from?
Wherever it is, sounds kick ass...

I don't play tournaments but I plan on starting eventually.

When I do, Dress shoes, dress slacks, button down long sleeve shirt.

When I finally play in a pro tournament, it will be waist coat and a tie. Or perhaps a sports coat.

I think a player should present him or herself properly.

Sweat pants. Button down collar short sleeve shirt. NB tennies. Emphasis on comfort.

No matter what I wear I have no idea what your opinion of that might be so when I'm getting ready to leave home I don't take "how I'll look" very much into consideration. No matter what I wear somebody will have negative thoughts/comments about it so I dress for my comfort. With a bad back, bad knees, bad feet, bad shoulder, and about 30 lbs overweight I need COMFORT.

Besides, I'm old... the girls won't be looking. And don't tell me you aren't dressing for the girls! :D

Not to start anything, BUT, some tournaments have dress codes and you are required to go by them or you won't be able to play in them. The New York State 9 ball Championships, when they were held in Binghamton, NY, at the Pocket Billiard Lounge, always had a dress code. Collared shirt, dress pants, dress shoes. Last I knew, Mike Zuglan's Joss Tour did also. I have yet to see a dress code at any tournament I've been to in South Carolina.
