Tournament Bracket Program

I was asked by the owner of my local pool hall to put on a tournament next month. The room has 10 Valley bar tables, all new Simonis cloth. They have tried to have tournaments there before but not with much luck. This is a family establishment and is a really nice place to play pool.....smoking outside, and no alcohol.

I want to try and get as many people to come to this tournament so we can start having more good tournaments there.

What I need is a program to put the peoples names who enter the tourney..and it basically does all the bracket work for you......Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you used either program? If so, which one did U like best?

And thanks brother for that!

Shawn

software

I mean how many 128 player tournaments happen there. 64 is quite sufficient for almost all local tournaments, besides I hear that Ingen is working on a 128 player version.

I Just played around with both of them, and i like the Tournament manager.net one

Would like to see how the player database works, would like to see if it keeps track of handicapping.

Also, I assume it would be straightforward to run multiple 32-player "brackets" (multiple tournaments as far as the software is concerned) and feed them into a single final bracket.

If you start with four 32-player brackets, take 8 from the A side and 4 from the B side of each one.

Feed the 32 no-loss players onto the *second* column of a 64-player chart, and feed the 16 one-loss players two over on the B side of the 64 player chart.

You are right, it can be done that way. The only problem would be having multiple screens of 20 tables for table assignments (and how many were actually used in the tournament). Overlap could easily occur.

I think it is ridiculous to talk about 128 player software when this local tournament will probably only draw 16 players at most.

Ingenpool does have a BETA version (INGENPOOLPRO) for registered users. This version does support 128 players. Not sure why it's still in BETA.

This tourney will probably draw 16, maybe 20 players...I have no idea..this is one of the Nicest pool halls around, but the no beer and smoking outside is what is going to hurt this tourney...I am a 10 in my ACS League...this will have mostly 5-9 rated players in it..I am hoping it will draw some better players...but I am not expecting it on this tourney

I am going to DL both programs this evening and give them a try...Thanks everyone for all your valuable input....as always, AZ coming through again!

Man, let me tell ya, IF you have to ask about a High Dollar 12 piece Budweiser cue....you obviously know nothing about pool...

Let me tell ya this. If the WTPBCSC "World Twelve Piece Budweiser Cue Secret Society" heard me even saying this, they would take 1 piece from me and I would be stuck with an 11 piece Budweiser cue club....and you DONT want to be in That club! Budweiser cues (12 piece that is) are the Holy Grail of Pool cues....everyone has a Bushka, Szam....but how many do you know that own a 12 piece Bud cue....prolly just 1.....see how secret our society is!?

sorry!!!

Seriously, I'm breaking 14 secret society laws just talking about it. But if you ask anyone that knows about these cues, they will probably fall on the sword before they say a peep. Only reason I am even mentioning it is because I am having a full labotomy tomorrow, and I won't remember a word that was said here....

If I werent running a tournament with 128 I wouldnt have asked. I dont see what is so ridiculous about it

large tournament programs

Just so everyone knows, CSI (CueSports Int'l) has been developing a new software program for handling larger (and small) events. We first used this at the US Bar Table in Feb. It is known at CTS (CueSports Tournament System).

We currently only handle events that has our laptop on site - BUT after our May event, we wil get a new addition going. This will allow us to "loan" our software to any number of events.

The location will have to provide the names - the software can do the draw, table and time management, and anything else all the up to cutting the checks. The beauty is that any computer with internet access will be able to connect and have access to this software.

It is designed to handle many divisions simultaneously, and can handle unlimited number of tournaments at the same time.

I do not know the technical jargon on how this works - but this is unlike anything out there. I expect it to be functioning around Sept or so.

The plan is to make this available for free. The brackets will remain available for viewing for an unlimitged time.

I think this will be very cool. On site, it can be shown on a big screen or whatever.
