Tournament Considerations for 2012.

Joey ... Actually, any of the Midwest 9 ball tour events are good to play in
(the tournament at Olathe is just one of their events). Most are $2,500 to
$5,000 added tourneys played on Bar Tables. Go to http://www.9balltour.com

The $2,000 added event listed on the website is Shooter's annual Thanksgiving tourney, $20 entry, 128 players, handicapped 9 ball was won again by Shane McMinn, Glen Atwell took 2nd, our own George Trujillo took 3rd. Glen Atwell is still around here trying to line up money games. I played his running partner, Sam Cole, the other night.

There are also some good tournaments played at Jamaica Joes in Oklahoma City, and tournaments at Magoos in Tulsa.

Thanks Scott but I'll have to wait for some dates from the 9balltour.com
Sounds good though.

I was just looking at the flights out of New Orleans for LosAngeles and they are cheaper than the flights to Indiana (Derby City Classic)

I'm starting to think more about going to the Jay Swanson tournament instead of the Derby City Classic.

I guess the whole reason I'm thinking about other tournaments is that I've always liked exploring new places and visiting new places.

There's a lot of friendships that you develop by going to places like the DCC but the length of the tournament turns me off and unfortunately, once I go to it, I don't want to leave. However if I stay there for more than a few days I get cabin fever.

A round trip ticket to LA costs only $300 and the flight back is a no stop to boot.

Anyway, just mulling over the plans for next year.

I guess I am leaning more and more to short weekend pool tournaments no matter where they are.

The White Diamonds BIG CALCUTTA tournament dates have just been announced for March of 2012 and that is my fav weekend tournament so we're making plans to attend that.

Am I crazy for thinking about going to the Jay Swanson tournament over the Derby City Classic. (They're too close together for me to justify going to both)

Just added the Louisiana State Bar Table Championship to my list.

Didn't make the Derby but there are many other good tournaments on the horizon.

Joey A tour list - 2012

Joey,

The Swanee WILL fill up.
So if you thinking about it - don't snooze.
It is only a 2 day event - very very long days.

US Bar Table in Reno is going to awesome.
Great venue - grand Sierra - $39/$49 rate with no resort fee.

Lots of strong talent. 40 of the 7' tables (diamonds) plus a bunch of 9' tables.
Go to playbca.com to get all the info.
$25,250 added (guaranteed)

Thank you Mark for the reminder about Swanee. It's an event that I've always wanted to attend. A friend said I could stay with him if I make the trip so my expenses wouldn't be that much.

February & March are very busy months for extra nice tournaments here in Louisiana so I don't know if I will make the Swanee or not.

You are just the best !! You start the best threads with useful info while others are busy bashing and tearing down good ol Joey A chimes in with something we all can benefit from and that is good for the sport as a whole.
I can't give ya any more rep so I had to blow smoke this way .

I've hesitated to answer this post for various reasons but I too had to publicly thank you for your thoughtfulness.

See you this summer in Atlanta. We'll go harass Mike Janis.
