It is a labor of love more than a monetary success.
Not enough! Herding cats!!!!
Does anyone here have an idea how much a tournament director should get for a big tournament like Turning Stone or DCC?
More than the tournament can afford...
If 90% of the tournament funding comes from the players, that's true. Greens fees pay for one, supposedly. I always thought the idea of "greens fee" along with "added money" was kinda sketchy. $3000 added but $2000 subtracted.
If you want to do the inflation multiplier, the TD for the 1980 SF Open (4 days?) got $500. He was also worthless -- couldn't figure out the byes or draw for an 88-player chart.
I'd say hotel room, meals, and $50 per hour is reasonable if the TD knows what he's doing.
