Tournament Entry Fee$

if the tournaments are filling up early then the buyin needs to be raised. supply and demand at work. the higher the buyins the more money in the pots and more interest gets created over time.

Has anyone, anywhere/in any country seen this?
Event is a couple mths away from this post.

Tournament flyer States..... "no refunds on entry fees".
It's a fir$t for me.
How do feel about this?

That's perfect. Nothing more annoying that seeing a tournament with money added with full roster then half of them not showing up. Or out of town monsters signing up, causing low attendance and then they don't show up.

I'd say no refunds, money will go to the winning pot.

In my past that's always been the norm, I don't think that will change but it could.
When Medina signed up early, many wouldn't show. And with a smaller field he won almost all the time in his prime.

that why fargo got invented so lesser players have a chance against better ones in tournaments.

only a fool would pay a significant entry fee to play in a tournament he had little chance to win.

They were always playing for 2nd, and hoping they didn't play em in the early rounds.

I think you all are expecting too much as far as accurate language goes.

Thats a pool tournament blurb, not a grocery store coupon.

A local TD runs monthly tournaments. You have to sign up by Thursday and pay. He tells you when you're going to play so you don't have to be early. If you can't make it, your entry carries over to later months.
That's the proper way to run a tournament that starts early or has people traveling to it. Unless there are enough tables for everyone to start at once.
With today's electronic payment methods, it's dead simple to issue refunds. I could see implementing a penalty if people are abusing the refund policy, but simply keeping the $$ seems crooked. Any TD doing this is not going to last long.
A non-refundable deposit to hold your spot and cash on day of event might work too.
