I needed a travel bag to carry my cases. We make one but it wasn't large enough for the amount of cases I wanted to carry.

So I shopped around and came across this one.

It's only $39 and is decently made. It easily fits about 6+ cue cases, I haven't filled it up yet to see the total capacity.

My main criteria was to find one where the cases could be easily inserted and taken out. For some reason there are many 36" duffels where the opening is only like 25" making it hard or impossible to get cases into them.

I just used this one for my trip from OKC to China and it arrived undamaged. I don't know how many trips it will last but for $39 anything past one long one is a bonus.

So if you are looking for an inexpensive solution to hold your team's cases as you travel to this year's big events - here is one.

I guess I should have bought a bunch and rebranded them as JB Cases and charged triple. :-)

as you know, our cases couldn't fit diagonally into our hard-sided suitcases, so KK9's ferrule was cracked & his tip came off, for Mosconi - compliments of Delta.

we see it's 36"L. what's the width & depth? 15x15?

yes, $40 is a good price w/ wheels. and that's a great idea for teams travelling!

mine is about 17x15x36

I actually took my case into Academy Sports to look for a bag and found this one. the one I linked to is the same exact one from what I can tell.
 
That duffel doesn't offer much protection, you might want to retrofit it with some UltraPad.
I'm surprised there's not already a modular Rugged cue case / luggage set available><:smile:

I put bubble wrap down and clothes on top.

Me neither, plus he kind of hurt my feelings.
I came up with a brilliant idea of a modular cue case / luggage set for travel, and instead of saying "hey Ted that's a good idea, I'll starting working on the design, and I'll even design in a rolling Rugged / duffle combo, with a snap-out carrying case just for cues.
Instead he comes up with this clothes up bubble wrap down bullshit, as if that's going to work.
How would he like it if he was promoting his UltraPad interior, and I chimed in telling people to just put some ****ing bubble wrap in there, it will be fine.
 
Just in time for Nationals in Las Vegas. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but most airlines have 62" luggage size limit. Ever been ding with an oversize luggage fee, or questioned?
 
I just returned from a week long trip to the west coast. I did not bring my equipment due to how big of a PITA it is to check a cue travel bag and a suit case.
With one of these duffel bags you can combine everything. I did not travel to an area where I would be playing pool but I would have brought my equipment just in case.
As it happened I did find a place to play and would have loved to have my cue and case.

My playing equipment is not so valuable that if it were lost I could not go on. So it would not bother me to take it anywhere I would go if I were checking a bag.

Jim, you sure travel a lot for a guy who makes miniature cues for a living.
I think you're either CIA, or ex-mob, located to Vail as part of the witness protection program,
disguised as a guy who makes miniature cues for a living.

No wonder you guys get along so well.
In your recent travels were you hip to the clothes-up and bubble wrap-down system?
If not you better talk to your buddy JB.

Jim lives in Colorado where he could be growing a lot more than just 8-balls><:smile:
Now he's growing 8-balls while entering in to the witness protection program, hanging out with JB making mini cues.
Then look at JB, international casemaker extraordinaire, stuffing bubble wrap into a 39-duffel to travel with his cues.
You would think that after all those years of designing cue cases and going to shows, he would of designed something better than bubble wrap into a 39-dollar duffel bag.

A designer knows when there is no need to go farther with a design.

Bubble wrap and cheap duffel bags are widely available and they serve the purpose perfectly.

Sure I can design a different solution and I have our own travel bags. But when I am in need of a large bag and don't happen to have my staff had to whip one up in a few hours I prefer to spend a few minutes simply buying what I need.

Bubble wrap and rubber bands are the nuts.

Great stuff

This is great info. My old bag finally gave out this year so now I have some options. The one Lenny linked has a 42 inch option that looks like the one I'm gonna go with. The worst that happens is I throw it in the trash.
