The upcoming first IPT "official" tournament will be held July 22-30 at The Venetian Resort Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV: http://www.venetian.com
I have been checking around on the Internet for hotel specials for The Venetian Resort Hotel & Casino, but haven't found anything CHEAP. After spending several hours on the search engines, I decided to just call up The Venetian Resort Hotel & Casino to see if they had any specials. There is an IPT player's rate in effect for $179 per night, plus 9-percent tax, which comes to $195.11 per night. Believe me when I say, this is definitely a discount for The Venetian Resort Hotel & Casino.
There are advantages to staying at the "host" hotel during a pool tournament, i.e., the comfort of having one's room nearby for rest, not having to rely on taxis or shuttles to get to the venue site, and convenience, et cetera. However, from talking to my counterpart who knows Las Vegas well, there are MANY hotels nearby which cost quite a bit less. The decision on WHERE to say is the question. It comes down to COST versus CONVENIENCE.
So, to Colin, Spadevil, Bernie, Linda, Aaron, IPT members, and AzB-ers, what are your thoughts about staying at the Venetian versus a less expensive hotel? I usually stay at the host hotel because there is one school of thought that doing so supports the tournament, but in this instance, I'm not quite sure that's the case. Any thoughts, ideas, and blessed opinions?
JAM [Won't even address the issue that I am afraid of airplanes and haven't flown in over 35 years.
