treadmill motor

Cool, Thanks Guys, I figured It was, and just that the dark Made It more noticeable, but wanted to be sure. It seems to run smooth and strong enough.

Greg buddy sorry to hear you've been sick. Pneumonia is nothing to take lightly. It killed a guy here who was only 50 something & in seemingly good health. My buddy is fighting it now for a couple months at least. His Dr. told him to take a Mucinex daily just to help combat a relapse...working well for him so far. You may want to ask your Dr. if thats a good idea for you too. I'll say a prayer for your health my friend. Stay well!

Thanks Kevin, That was one of the contributing factors to My Fathers death, brought on by the fact that He just couldn't quit smoking. Could not get him to go to the doctor, end result It got so bad he basically choked out in My arms, and It had gotten so bad that every effort to clear his airways and perform CPR was useless, It's a bad thing for sure, and I wouldn't wish It on anyone.

I'd probably have gotten through It quicker, but the antibiotics from the doctor was cut with some other stuff that I had never taken before, and after the second dose I had a severe allergic reaction that I guess could best be described as a really bad sunburn. Face & neck turn bright red with purple blotches, so I quit taking the stuff. A week later and My face is still peeling a bit from It. I have some new antibiotics to replace them, but trying to beat this without them. I'm slowly getting better, just not as fast I may would with Them.

My doctor started to recommend Mucinex to me one time also, but then he remembered That I sometimes have an issue with My salivary glands, that causes then to stop working, and said that I better not take the stuff due to the fact that It may dry me out to much. When they stop pumping Your screwed, Feels like you have needles in the back of Your mouth, The gland swells up, and It can actually make You very sick. If anyone ever feels like someone Is jabbing a needle back there, then chances are that May be what's going on.

I Really appreciate all the concerns. Slowly getting better, I guess I probably have what would be considered walking Pneumonia now, but It's better then being bed ridden. before I could not even sit at the computer for longer then 5 minutes before having to crawl back in bed, so It's a step up for now. I'd probably be doing a lot better right now if the cold had not set in, but at least I can move around.

This time It was set off by a flu or virus My daughter must have picked up, she was getting pneumonia from It too, but Is doing much better, She is My first concern, So I'm thankful that she is doing much better.

I got an invite to play in the inaugural top gun tournament in Jax next week, but the deadline for registration was today, and at This point even though I feel like I'm getting better, I still don't know where I will Be by then. Not only do I have work backed up, but I would not want to play in It if not up to full speed by then. A few of the guys wanted to ride up there to watch Me play in It, so feel bad for that, but I decided not to. Maybe if they allowed walk ins, but they don't.

Right now I'm just trying to take It slow, so I can get back up to speed sooner. feeling much better then I was though. I've been down for months with this stuff before, and not being able to work was driving me nuts, so a few weeks I can deal with. And better that It happened through Thanksgiving rather then Christmas.

So anyway, thanks for the concerns. Like I mentioned I'm doing much better. You guys take care of yourselves, and be sure to be safe with what you breath in In the shop. That can bring on this kind of stuff too.

Just want thank everyone for the help. I still don't know for sure if the blue wires are thermal protection, field coil, or what, but I think I got them wired up correctly. I was able to rewire in order to eliminate the other power board, and It still works the same. end result was that I was able to do what I wanted, just hope I got it right, no magic smoke though, so that's good.;) I left the choke on there. It just runs inline through the black side of the output to the motor.

Now I just need to wire a reversing switch up, and mount everything in a enclosure.

The other ways I saved money, were little things that often go unnoticed. Like I was able to reuse the power cord, the circuit breaker, and the switch from the treadmill. So far I have $3 into It. Everything to get It running on the one board was just switching connectors which were already installed, so I haven't had to purchase those yet, and no soldering has done up to this point.

By the time It's said and done, I should still have little money It, and there's always a use for such motors in a shop.

I do have to turn the pot down at restart, but I have read there are ways to change that. I need to look into more. Not even sure that I couldn't deal with that the way It is though. Especially considering how much money has been saved.

Anyway Just wanted to update, and Thank everyone for the help.

The speed control is a PWM (Pulse Width Modulated) speed control:
(1) The input for the speed control is 110-120 ac (common household current).
(2) The output on the speed control is rated to put out from 12 VDC upto130 VDC at 8 amps for continuous duty! Because it is a PWM (Pulse Width Modulated) speed control, the motor maintains good torque even at slow speeds.
(3) There is a four bolt base for mounting the device on 2" x 5-1/8".
(4) The entire aluminum housing acts as a heatsink. So it keeps cool even at constant use for many hours.
(5) The speed can be controlled from 0-100% by using the 5k Pot speed control knob.
(6) When you start the motor/speed control, you have to turn speed control knob to the stop/reset position before the motor will start. Then you can adjust the speed as desired. This is a built in safety mechanism of the speed control so that you don't turn it "on" and have the motor automatically spinning at full.
If I can help you or you need any additional information just let me know.

Thanks a Million!!
Todd

Here is a wiring diagram for the MC60... Be sure you do not ground the aluminum heat sink or you will cause MAJOR DAMAGE!!!! In fact I just cap the ground wire with an insulated cap.

Thanks Todd, I ran across that schematic, and It did not account for the choke or the blue wires, not sure if this is the correct way, but it works and This is basically how I have It wired It. The ? mark area in the lower left hand side is the power switch. The black top right is the choke that just runs inline on the output side. The ground is currently running to the frame that the motor mount bracket is welded to, not the heat sink, but I was curious about where to relocate the ground when I pull everything out of the treadmill. So Are you saying I should not use the ground, and just cap It off?

All I know is if the heatsink even touches ground it's toast!! So, I don't use the ground at all. And it works fine for me. And if you want to add a foot pedal you can wire that in where the "Choke" is. Send me a PM and I can give you some info about that.

Thanks, I thought about adding a foot switch, with a switch to override and keep It constant when I want to walk away, but have decided to hold off on that for now. The reason the override switch came to mind was that When I'm tapering, I have limit switches wired into My power feed, so often I just walk away and work on something else when making a pass.

I got the flywheel/pulley off. It's a odd size, something like 17mm, so I need to make a pulley too. I either have to turn a new pulley, or bore out a 5/8 out to size. Shouldn't be too big of a deal though.
