Triangle tip question

Just got my shaft back from Seyberts with a new Triangle tip. Great job and service, as usual, but I forgot to tell the installer to trim it down a bit. So, compared to my other tips, the tip is taller. This may be a good thing, but it looks a little big.

If I wanted to cut it down and reshape, what would be my best way of doing this with a Triangle? I do not have a lathe, but I do have a few tip tools laying around. I thought of the Willard, but that will take forever.

Any suggestions?

When you say trim it down I assume you mean the edge height?
During my tenure as a friendly neighborhood cue repair person, the finished height of the tips I installed were always .125 thousanths of an inch, or 1/8 inch.
Sometimes, but rarely, a customer would want something else.
An eighth of an inch is a good compromise for tip height for a couple of reasons. If the edge is too tall, on a single layer tip, it tends to mushroom more easily, and on the layered tips an edge that is too high can cause some of the layers to delaminate. It's the tall building swaying in the wind analogy.
If you feel you must cut it back, I would recommend trimming it with a new single edge razor blade; cleaning that up with sandpaper; then final shaping with the tried and true Willard. The edge can then be burnished with tiny bit of high quality spit and a paper towel. :)

Hey Jed, if I were you I would not take it down until it Mushrooms. I install a very large number of tips of all kinds, and with Triangle, Le pro, and Elk master tips I pressed before I install them. I also do not recommend taking a tip down until it has a chance to compress, because if you do you will shorten the tips life Span.

Then I would just use a tip shaper to shape the tip to the diameter you prefer,
 
I use a Triangle tip also. I personally like the tall tip. Triangles don't mushroom much, but I too would wait until it's necessary.
 
Thanks for all the good advice. I haven't played with it yet so I may like it tall. It just looked different from my others. It looks about twice as tall as the OEM Schon tip that I also use with the same cue. Seyberts, I'm sure, know what they are doing. I'll leave it alone for now.
