Trip Report: Skyline Billiards in Brooklyn

Had a free Saturday night so my son & I went to go check out Skyline Billiards in Brooklyn (NY). I only recently learned that Skyline is owned by none other than Jennifer Barretta and her husband Gregg McAndrews of Tru TV's "The Hustlers". My son and I have watched The Hustlers over & over again (like the Sopranos). My son wanted to meet the Power couple of Pool and truth be told, so did I.

The Pool room is located in a nice area of Brooklyn, 2515 McDonald Ave, on the 2nd Floor. 718.627.3407. It's easy on, easy off the highway & there was plenty of public transportation around. I felt completely safe in the neighborhood. There was plenty of safe, street parking. The room itself is modern, nicely appointed & very clean. They have a bar & a kitchen as well. The room features 12, 9' Brunswick GC IIIs (3 of which are tight joints) 2 heated Billiard Tables & 1 Diamond Bar Table. The cloth is Simonis, the tables all had Centennials, but they had a a few sets of Cyclops balls available too. Even the bathrooms were clean.

Jennifer & Gregg were awesome hosts. They were very warm and were happy to answer my stupid fanboy questions about The Hustlers. Jennifer is just as sweet and gracious in person as she was in the TV show. They were only too happy to take a picture with my son. It was a bit of a trip for us from CT, but well worth it. Jennifer said she'll definitely be at SBE, so if you'd like to meet her, that'll be a great opportunity for you.

Awesome story. I don't know Miss Baretta well, Greg on the other hand is great in my eyes. I wish them great success.

Skyline has always been one of my favorite rooms. Good food, good people and always good action.

I have only heard good reports about the place. The only pool room I've been in Brooklyn is Gotham City and that was to play in the Predator. I'd like to go to Hall of Fame Billiards because I hear Jean Balukas owns it and works there and I always wanted to meet her.
By the way, since we're talking about Brooklyn, on the el to Coney Island I saw a billiard hall out the window at the Brighton Beach Station. Anyone know what place it is and if it is nice?

Seems like a nice place

Steve,

Looking forward to meeting you at SBE. Easy to recognize me. Cardiac Kid on the red pool case. Might be wearing my "Make Pool Great Again" hat. Open, Senior and Super Senior events. Have a safe trip down.

yea what are the table rates
I'm thinking $10/hr for 2 players as we played just under 2 hours and the bill was like $17 and small change. Very reasonable for NYC on a Saturday night. Chelsea and Amsterdam were getting $12/hr for 2 back in the 1990's.

Lyn, looking forward to meeting you as well. I'm playing in the seniors tournament too (how I hate the sound of that). I have a 3x3 black Whitten case with the double red stitching, but it'll be far easier to ID me with the little hustler in the picture above by my side, lol. -Z-
