I've been following since about '68. Tulsa was the AAA farm team for a few yrs and i saw a lot of Card greats.

I won't argue pizza, because everyone has thier own taste buds and preferances. we eat a lot of pizza around the chicago area.
Theres about 14 mid range quality places i could order from just in my area. so i def want to try Pequods now.
I feel sorry for my cousin in texas, they only have pizza hut and dominos near them.... bleh
But i can say the original uno's downtown chicago is amazing. they failed at franchising anything outside of the city isnt the same.
Lou malnatis is always great. and it seems to be the same quality in the suburbs as downtown.
Similar story with giordanos.
Ginos i always thought was not as good as the others. the main attraction i think was for tourists to write on the walls. and the chains in suburbs also not as good as the city.

Peaquod’s has a location in The NW suburbs too. Morton Grove.

that would be even furthur for me. I'm along 88. But thanks for the tip.
My other thought would be are they as good as downtown. some of the chains are not as good as the originals, and it is not just about nastalgia.
Unos is an example of franchising out and they did not have good managment. a lot of them closed down.

I believe the Morton Grove location is the original location and run by the same people. I've been trying to get there for a late lunch (less crowded) but have just been too busy. Maybe this week as I'm coincidentally in Evanston right now.

There was 3C tournament Friday night. Started 5, appeared to still being going on when we left at midnight.
 
Chris’s was my favorite pool hangout when I lived in the NW suburbs. Opened at 10 am and was pool heaven! No music in the front room and you could BYOB when you felt like a beer. Liquor store right up the street on Milwaukee Ave.
The only issue was parking after the lot next to the fire department closed.

Lots of great players and lots of fun!!!

Besides the food in Chicago Chris’s is the only other thing I miss, well there is Joe Gold.

First Malnati's was the Lincolnwood location. Second was Elk Grove Village I think. Downtown was much later I think. I won't go into all the details, but my father was good friends with Lou Malnati, and I am a few years older than the restaurant - they tell me my first taste of pizza was Due. We moved away from Chicago when I was young but I remember going to it when it was Lincolnwood only. Lou's family has done great with the restaurant since his passing in the late '70's. So I have some reasons to favor Malnatis.

Yeah i vaguely remember reading the history. Because most of them have news articles and beginnings posted on the walls. I love reading those.
A few of the big ones are connected. as in one person worked in the kitchen of a place. then started his own.

Lou's has tasted the same, just as good at every location i've been to. I chatted with the owner of the one that opened near me.
They are very aware and dedicated to perfection at all locations.
