So I've been thinking I want to try a wrapless cue. I have a pretty loose grip, but my moves a little on my wrap usually. This causes it to get very sore afer 4 or 5 hours at the table. I've seen some great sectioned handles from Downey and was thinking of giving one a try. $665 from Muellers this. Seems a decent price for a cue with two shafts w/ Moori tips and joint protectors. I also like the idea of a radial brass pin. I don't read a lot about his stuff on here though so I thought I'd seek some oppinions.

Are his cues cored? How is the taper? Overall fit/finish?

Thanks for any input. I did search and found a few older threads but just thought I'd see if there were any new opinions on the subject.

I liked all of mine

You will not be disappointed with any cue from Troy Downey. I have owned 4of his cues and have been very happy with the fit, finish and playbility of all of them. Give him a try you will be glad you did.

I believe downey cues to be the best bang for the buck around. Troy doesn't compromise when it comes to quality, and his cues play great. He is an under the radar maker, that deserves more recognition as far as i'm concerned. He also cares about the customer, and will try to accomodate your concerns, so long as they are within reason. I own 2 of his cues now, and will own more in the future. Feel free to contact him at muellers, he'd answer your questions for ya. Don't let the prices fool you, he builds a great cue!

a friend of mine has a downey that plays lights out. i know he paid 500 for it but if he offered it to me for 1k i'd buy it. honestly i think that cue got my expectations real high for troys cues. everytime i think downey i think of how good that cue played

I had a downey loved it,I played lights out,I sold it a while back and miss it very much, would love her back if I could have her
