I bought a tru balance a little while back and didn't notice until now that it is only 52 inches long. It has a black fiber ferrule. Where they all this short or is this a real old stick? Anything helps.
It would help if you posted a photo, but I would suspect that if you are calling the cue True Ballance, that it has a lable with True Ballance on it. These cues with the True Ballance lables were made from the 1940's through the 1960's. The length of these cues could be for the following reasons.
1) Brunswick had a cue repair facilities that were operated in many larges cities, to the best of knowledge until the early 1950's. Broken cues were sent to have new shafts made, new ferrules and tips installed, and all other types of cue repairs. The shaft could have broken, so they cut the cue down, re-tapered it, and replaced the ferrule and tip.
2) Brunswick made cues in different lengths for different games.
a. Carom Games - 52 inch - 56 inch
b. Pocket Billiards Games - 57 inch
c. Custom Orders - These cues could be made to any length that the
customer requested, I am uncertain when they stopped making
custom orders.
Hope this helps
