Trudeau,usefull or not??

Maybe you guys can enlighten me a little. I understand that popular opinion is that KT is a con man. I do not know him personally or really that much about him. I tend to agree withmost peoples comments on here to be very carful when dealing with anything he does. HOWEVER, I can't help but think that if he was just out to make the fast $$$ and rip everyone off why would he go back and pay (although in pieces) when he could have that side of the biz fill ch-11 and be out with his $$. I am not trying to proof either point just wondering why he would keep going. I mean it has to be hard facing the pool and billiards community knowing that alot of people have a very negative view of you. But he paid up his debt and stood there and took all the crap. Maybe he is trying to make upo for his mistakes and by taking the crap he is saying "Ok I screwed this up but I am still here and paying" Am I trying to just look for the good in people or am I right?

Ah, could you make that a proctoscope, please.
Doug

Proctoscopy: ... the proctoscope is lubricated and inserted into the rectum, and then ... be mildly uncomfortable as the proctoscope is inserted further into the rectum....

*KT promised the poolplayers plenty and then he rectum.

.

KT couldn't undergo a proctoscopy until a couple of heads are extracted...

If KT really wanted to say "hey I screwed up and I want to straighten this all out", he could just come out of pocket and pay the players their money and be done with it. The fact that he keeps dangling the carrot in everyones face by paying this measly 11% just shows that he wants to be able to conive and scam more. Alot of players came out of pocket to cover travel and other expenses and they deserve their money. Hell if I were someone like Rodney Morris that was owed a substanial amount from KT, I would be worried that if I didnt give him another chance, I might not get whats rightfully mine. A persons true identitiy comes out when money is involved...and KT has shown his true colors. JMO.

I agree with you Southpaw, and as I read you comments began to think a little deeper on both sides. What if he couldn't pay the $$ outright? I know he is supposed to have all this $$ but what if he hasn't got what we all think and that was his only way out or file the BK? Also The other side is that I have no idea how much $$ he actually owes with production costs, admin, insurance etc. Lets say that he owed a total of 1 mil, and that was in a high interest savings account. I wonder how much he would stand to make on just the interest alone by paying in instalments? I am not saying either one is true but there has to be some incentive to do things the way he has if he has the money in the bank. If he doesn't and he is trying to scratch up the $$ Then I commend him for sticking to it. Again I don't think that anyone except KT knows the real reasons.

All Im saying is...it would alot easier to say he got in over his head and now has to pay in installments if he didnt have a past of scamming and conning people. I really think KT thought the IPT would put pool on the map as far as the sports world is concerned, like the WSOP did for poker, and then he could sell it and make a killing. But, when certain things failed and he saw he couldnt move his "product", he only took care of himself. And lets not forget that the installments didnt start immediately. It was after alot of press coverage from Billiards Digest and Inside Pool Mag. and even numerous threads on AZ about what the players deserve that the installments surfaced.

Well, he was already a convicted criminal. He was under the scrutiny of Federal authorities and also faced impending lawsuits and bodily harm from disgruntled poolplayers. I think he's been covering/saving his ass... imo

Again, I agree. Again I am not sticking up for KT but I would imagine it is hard for a businessman/promoter to say "I scewed up" image is everything to a sales person/promoter. If he can out an said it would that gurt him when trying to get backers/sponsors in the future? Probably IMO. That could be why. BUT if thats the case if he has the $$ it is worth paying it out of his pocket to save that rep. Like I said, I can probably think of a reason he went about it the way he did to combat. But without knowing the TRUTH on all aspects I think we are all guessing and would we have done it any differet ourselves? I guess it's easy for us to sit on the sidelinbes and judge him. I know what happened was WRONG and should not have happened, maybe this was the only way out for him. It does ruin it though for others trying to break into the market with something like this as I think most are going to be very careful about getting involved with things that appear too good to be true.

SJDinPHX, A quick question for you. I am guessing that you are in PHX. We have the Dust Off coming up and then the Shootout here in town (thats should be big by the way) But do you se a future for Pool/Billiards on a large scale here? please let me know your thoughts.

I am a firm believer that pool, on a local OR national level, will never live up to it's full potential until a viable, cohesive, professional org. (such as the
PBA) comes about.
We can still have a lot of fun with local promoters that are sincere in trying
to further our sport, (and make a buck in the process) by their sponsoring
of local events.

I am guessing you mean someone ot company with $$$ to make it happen. I agree, I just sems that those poeple don't have that much faith in the business to make them want to spend the $$$. I mean even if someone with millions came along and wanted to do something with that $$ they would do some research before commiting. When that research is done what will they find? KT? ESPN dropping out of events? I think I agree with you, it is going to take something special for it to live up to its full potential. Otherwise we all need to get behind events and show support for them and bring that awareness.

Options;

IMO the majority of PEOPLE who know KT and/or his antics loath him.

Any business venture he's involved with will be scrutinized with a VERY, VERY powerfull microscope.

MANY OF THE 'IMMACULATE" CAN"T SURVIVE THE SCOPE.

If KT wants to pursue financial gain for himself and pool players through the game he would be best served as a transparent "invester" working through a well respected front person. DA is a lightweight and MS comes across as a shyster.

BUT, there are options if KT opens his eyes.....
Options ,that's my point. Life doesn't always give us options so if ever possible when we are offered options we would be better suited to take advantage of them. If Trudeau's next proposal comes with an option then we would be foolish not to evaluate it.

Did I plant a seed or just fertilize one;)

easy for some

Life would be much simpler and decisions would be easier to make if everything was judged on surface value, but it's not. In reference to the Trudeau situation ,for those of you that don't have a vested interest in this, making a decision is easy, but for others especially pool players it is clearly a tougher call. I wish every time I had to make a decision on something it was black or white, but we all know that's not the case,is it? Just about every thing we do in life is a gamble, think about it,and this is no differen't. But the only people that are gambling here are the pool players , I don't see anyone else paying their bills. And for a pool player bills are harder to meet if they are relying only on revenue from tournaments ,and gambling. I happen to be one of the more fortunate players , meaning that I don't have to rely on revenue from pool to pay my bills. But at one time I did and it wasn't easy. I quit playing pool 4 differen't times because of the economics of the game and it seems to me that very little has changed. So I say roll the dice because we're on a free roll, unless someone else wants to step to the plate with some other answer.

as a business man I have met KT and got to know him, i like him. we didnt talk much about pool, he is very smart but exaggerates things, to put it in perspective if he were me he would say "I'm the greatest speller ever" which just isnt the case, but I am smart we all have our good and bad parts. We all make mistakes, i did here the other night on a topic of "Drugs". we all make mistakes, some people exaggerate things(I dont) in business like pool(when your looking for action) you have to make some minor misrepresentations (sometimes) other times you dont it depends on the deal.

KT lost his cash flow for his pool venture simple as that, and the players lost too, it hurt the players more than KT because of their circumstances, I dont like that but from my non biased view thats what happened. Since the players got the short end of the deal what should they do? I believe this is what Cardone is asking.

IMO whats done is done, KT lost the cash flow and had to manage the failure of a business, and thats what it was for him a business not his passion, hobby, etc. it was a business that went bad simple as that. His employees were basically the players, just like in the NBA, NFL, or the drivers in NASCAR. When he lost his customers the internet gaming people he lost his ability to play his employees.

Yes he does have other businesses, so do I and I dont cross the lines from one to the other, no business man does that, when I have a new venture fail I dont pay its debts from the cash cow businesses, granted he is responsible to pay everyone and I believe he will, he will do it in a amortized way over time making payments to them. He told me about the failure and his intentions to stay in pool, I didnt tell him I am a player until the end of the day I spent with him, so he had no reason to pitch me or BS me, because he didnt know that I was involved in pool in anyway and i'm not really other than what you all seen here, he is 100% commited making it work. I dont think he would be paying off the players if he wasnt commited to staying in pool, sure it can be argued he is liable to pay them and they could eventually get a court ordered enforcement forcing KT to pay them but that would take along time(which would benefit KT) but he chose not to go that route, to the best of my knowlege.

He did make it clear to me that he wants to keep a good reputation in pool before he knew I ever picked up a cue so why would he lie to me? He had nothing to sell me etc. So being a businessman I would handle it like he has if I planed to stay in that business, I have to add I dont have all the details of his dealing.

to finally answere Billys question, yes he is very useful, he is smart, has a good plan and appears to behave like someone who wants to stay in the biz of pool. He took a hard knock and hasnt disappeared. He is tough as nails in biz when he is commited to his beliefs, he is the infomercial king, he is to the infomercial biz what Efren is to one pocket. so yes he is usefull. He cant do any harm if the players manage themselfs and dont put themselfs in a spot to rely on him, players have to rely on themselfs and if KT can offer them a way to make $$$, whats wrong with that? now if the players rely on someone else then they are making a mistake, no grown man should rely on anyone for their livelyhood.

I have know of KT's plans for along time but I gave him my word I wouldnt discuss with anyone, until it was approiate, I awalys keep my word with everyone, So out of respect i wont say anymore but yes I believe KT will do the right thing.
