A cue 15 years or older which rolls straight will be less likely to warp than a new cue.

One of the reasons older shafts RESIST warping is that the natural moisture (sap) has long since evaporated out .
This is the same reason that you can bend a green twig , but snap a dry one .
HOWEVER , conditions do exist which will warp a seasoned shaft , and the two most common are temperature & humidity .
The layers in woodgrain represent the different growth rates in the tree in various years , and are never identical .
So , if the layers are allowed to expand and contract , they will do so at different rates . As this occurs , one side of the shaft will become longer, thicker/wider than the other - which you will perceive as 'warp'
