If this has been posted already, sorry.

From here is an interesting invention for glasses wearers. It allows the user to adjust his lenses depending on the situation.

From the article:

Seeing clearly everywhere, from up close to infinity, is finally possible. Wearing TruFocals, with just a simple finger motion on a small slider on the bridge, you can actually go from reading a newspaper to viewing a TV set to scanning a distant vista and your vision is crisp and clear every inch of the way. That’s a major improvement over multifocal glasses that are in focus only at certain fixed distances so your vision between those zones is blurred.

And, with TruFocals, the whole lens is in focus so your entire field of view is sharp, not just a portion as with bifocals or progressive glasses.

Has anyone tried these ($900) yet?

Are these like,,,real glasses, or some pool accessory scheme invented by some pool guy. Because if some pool guy invented these, I say "yeah, $900 is sure worth it".

I find these to be a very interesting concept.

Wish they were less expensive, though... my last pair were over $400 and I thought that was pricey (then again, my prescription requires a dedicated glass factory and individual campaign)-

My Lasik lets me now see from about 1 foot to about 6 feet. That's not enough for a big table so I've been playing mostly bar boxes since surgery. It'd be nice on a 9 footer to slide the focus bar over for those long, thin cuts up table then put it back to normal. That shot is giving me trouble.

As rich folks buy 'em, the price will probably come down, I'd guess.

Not trashing the product, they may be great, but it reminds me of the move "the jerk" where Steve Martin invented the deal which made people go cross eyed.

Maybe it was from playing with his "special purpose"?

Don't think a pool guy would ever have invented this--at least not this way. The frames are much too small and would always be in the line of vision. Plus, we'd all look like George Burns.

Way my luck runs I'd wipe my brow, move the slider and end up discovering a new form of microbial life that would wipe out the human race. :grin-square:

LOL, that's hilarious. Damn you have some bad luck!

Here's my grandson, Will (L), and his cousin, Jack (R), trying out the Trufocals at a Bar Mitzvah just this past Saturday.

Jack thought he saw a slight improvement while my grandson said he felt like he was a little disorientated, tripping over his own feet numerous times while dancing. This, however, may have been due to the Trubalance shoes he was also evaluating (see below). :grin-square:

Best,

Interesting concept. I have started wearing glasses recently. The problem I see is the frames where if you get too low you are looking OVER the frames that defeats wearing glasses.

I actually have 3 different solutions I've used due to the frame issue.

1. Spoony - A piece that raises the glasses on the bridge of the nose. Works well but looks silly.

2. A pair of glasses that allow you to tilt the glasses due to an extra hinge on the arms. Works well but tend to fog up in humid climate because the top of the glasses rest on your eyebrows.

3. Decot Hy-Wyds. Randy G. is a good POC for these. These work the best because the have an adjustable bridge piece that allows you to slide these up and down. Personally I don't need to make any adjustments because the lenses are HUGE.
