Trying a new tip

I have not found a layered tip I like and keep coming back to the Triangle. But they were hit and miss it seemed. Had one installed a week ago and it was so hard it would not take chalk at all. Sounded like a bat hitting a brick thud. Then went back the next had another one installed it played fine. The triangle cost me $10 bux to get installed but bad part is is cost $20 bux in gas to drive up there. Garczar has been telling me about Thorobred tips. Want to try them.
OK. You win !! Free TZAR tip coming to your door. PM your address and I will send out. No catch. Give it a try and then provide an honest review back on this thread. You in?

I’ll second that. I switched to Thoroughbred recently and I am more than pleased.

How about a break from covid and Afghanistan.
I have always said that I thought solid tips were just as good as layered tips and of course cheaper.
Well I have gone over to the dark side and had a Tiger Sniper installed.
I have not played with it yet.
Anybody else used this tip?
Oh yeah it was $31.00 installed! Good grief.

I like Tiger Tips, use to use their DISCONTINUED HARD LAYERED TIPS. Now it is their Tiger Emerald Tips.

I finally got to play 4 hours yesterday with the new tip.
About 2 hours of one pocket(played 5 games so no jokes) and 2 hours of 10 ball.
So between the two different games I shot about every combination of hard and soft stroke and spin combinations.
I saw no difference in this layered tip as opposed to the single layer tips I have been using.
The only difference was cost.
I did beat my opponent for $70 though.

Ah, so the sniper tip is now paid for. ;)

I may be the last person on Earth that still plays a Lepro. My alternate shaft has a triangle that I am about to replace with a G2 Medium. The Triangle has been great but is a little hard. I like the analogy of a ball and bat sound, but it really plays well for stop, follow and draw. Sound aside, it always held chalk and worked fine. Anyone here played the G2?

G2 medium is probably my favorite tip. It's Medium Hard. Density/ hardness is 80. Try it, I think you will like it.
I do like the Wizard tips that came with two Nitti shafts I bought. I just got a Mezz with a soft original Kamui. It plays like a medium and
I am now a Mezz fan like so many others here on the forum. For me it's hard to compare tips because I have them on different cues with ferrule, taper and joint playing into how they play, feel and sound.
.

Sniper is my favorite tip. I've been using them for years. They are a soft, quiet hit. They hold their shape forever. Installing them is tricky, you need a fresh utility knife blade, and a little bit of water helps the fibers cut better.

I'm one of what seems like a very few that absolutely love the predator victory soft tip.

Been hearing this for years. So far they all have sucked big time. Leather is ideal for the job, is fairly cheap and easy to get.
For now. Leather will be a hard to acquire expensive commodity if the green earthers have their way. Thankfully that'll be quite some time yet.

I don't think the green earthers will have any effect on leather tips made in China.
The Chinese play by their own rules.

It's only a matter of time before a synthetic play tip is created, and marketed big time.
I think Justnum is working on recycled products for pool as we speak.
He may be the next Bill Gates of pool with a giant technological break through.
If he goes public I'm buying stock.
I'm also going to stick hot needles in my eyes.

Yes I did but the guy I beat says he wants to get his $70 back next Saturday.
I don't think he knows that I play better then him.
Or maybe he does and just wants the challenge.
We have played about 10 times and hes never won.
We played last week 10 ball all slop and I won.
This last time he said call every ball,I still won.
I didn't understand why he wanted to change the rules.
It's all the same except call shot does change the safety strategy and the fact that when possible I rode the ten with the 1 thru 3 ball.
