Trying to determine the value of my Meucci Originals Cue So I Can Sell It.

I'm not super up on Meucci values, but I think their reach is really small now. That cue was probably worth more in 1990 than today, IMO.
Guess you've never been on the Meucci FB page. They have a pretty big following. I use it from time to time to check a value for non-AZ friends. Certain older models still bring pretty good $. Newer ones resale is pretty lame.

I have not. Good to know. I’m surprised actually…

Looks like the original versions were available as wrap-less or sealed wrap style. This one maybe had wrap replaced/added? Cool cue.

Every Original i ever saw had a linen wrap with finish over it. They'd make it with wrap un-coated but you had to ask them. This cue has had ferrule replaced and possibly the wrap as well.

You’ll find it goes easier if they’re a really good friend and you’re reaching for your wallet moments after you do it. Might not end so well otherwise, but you never know until you try.
:D Thanks for the tip.

Probably easier for me to crack a Meucci in 1/2 rather than a McDermott of the same era. :sneaky:

garczar, Howdy;

Bought a Brand New MO - 3 off the wall in Va. Beach back in 1979. NO coating on the wrap. None that were in that
display had a coating on the wrap. Don't think Meucci started coating the wraps until sometime in the 80's. Also,
the option to have or not have the coating is available.

Place i started at sold Meucci. All the cues out of that famous '79 catalog had sealed wraps. At least all that they ordered did. Must have been when he went that route. Always had the option. BTW, first good cue i had was a BH-1 Rifleman that i bought from Buddy. He had a trunkful that he was selling for Meucci. Every one he had had a sealed wrap. This was late '79-early 80. Wish i'd kept that one. Oh well.

All cues back then had a coated wrap, if you wanted uncoated it was a special order.
They must have ordered those cues that way back in 1979.

I tend to agree. There were a BUNCH of Meucci's in my area and i rarely saw an un-sealed wrap. Sealed was fine if you're hand didn't sweat. Here's the first catalog:https://www.budgetcues.com/collections/meucci-archive/products/meucci-1st-brochure And the Rifleman's: https://www.budgetcues.com/collections/meucci-archive/products/meucci-bh-series A friend has a BH-5 that he got from Buddy.

I have a MO-3. Second cue I ever purchased.

I was living in Nashville and purchased it in early 1975. I can’t remember for sure, but I believe i was told by the vendor that it was the first shipment to Nashville from the new Memphis factory. It had (has) a linen wrap. It does not have the glossy finish coat a lot of cues have today.

I’m thinking of asking Scott Gilmore to restore it for me. He does most of Richard Black’s repair/restore work and the results are amazing.

This is an early cue. Uncoated linen was standard back then

I didn't start playing til fall of '79. Place i played sold Meucci's out of that famous 'Crossing the Delaware' catalog. Every one they sold had sealed over wraps. Was it just a way to speed-up production? When Buddy was living here he was selling them too and all his had sealed wraps. I've only seen maybe 3-4 that came from factory uncoated.

The ferrule was replaced at some time and the wrap may not be original either. How straight the cue rolls is the main value setting point now in my opinion.

Interesting. These thinner buttplate cues have always had uncoated linen, in my experience. Out of the 10 or so that I've seen, none of them had that coated linen.

Granted, this one has been obviously rewrapped
