Trying to purchase a cue from screen name gregcantrall

Seems like a couple don't know so I'll mention that Greg has been an outstanding poster on here for many years. Just need to know he is the real Greg.

Of course, nobody knows me except through AZB so my reference may not help much!

One thing not related to Greg, never, never, never, and one more never, pay anybody upfront for something they have to build! A reasonable deposit yes. More? Be very very very cautious.

its amazing to me that people will send money to a screen name person that they have not even googled his real name or talked to him on the phone.

and as hu said sending full payment to someone who promises to build something for you in advance is really stupid.

but suckers get taken by cheats and then those that took lose it gambling to those that are smart.

and as hu said sending full payment...snip....

Your wording here reminded me...

I was in a big set at the pool hall 3 week ago for 4k, and one of the corporation on the other side was in for 1000. I won, and he paid me on Venmo. I gave him my phone with my account on the screen and told him to send me a dollar first, to make sure it goes through right, then send me 999. I almost always do this with all people I'm exchanging money with electronically for the first time.

He had some trouble and finally send it. He does the full 1000. It goes to someone else who has the same name as me! It was no scam, there are lots of people with the same name. He ended up getting his money back a couple of hours later as he filed a request with Venmo. One of the young guys at the room helped him by taking his phone and handled all the communication with Venmo (from his phone) to get the money back.

wire money and take your chances. pay in cash and its done deal.
i dont take wired money and certainly wont play with someone that cant put up the money. that is just playing on credit for me and if any problem arises you end up stuck usually. as the other guy wont want to pay twice.

but i dont play sets and pay after every game so they likely don't quit early, and lose all they got and i only risk one game not getting paid and usually even put that up if its a big amount and i am not totally sure of the guy.

and pay after every game puts more pressure on those that choke as each game they have to reach in their pocket.

This particular guy is real good action with a super good job, and plays for hundreds daily, and pays cash. This particular day he just didn't have that much cash on him. He actually sent me a "second" 1000 immediately after he realized his mistake of sending to the wrong person. So I was paid in full immediately, and he would have been out an extra 1000 if the refund didn't work.

I didn't even know he made a mistake until about 30 minutes later, as I was off doing something else, and I had my money in my account already.

But I see your point!

with those you are sure you can trust then certainly take their credit or promise to pay. very few you can be sure of. and many pay up to a certain amount and then over that they dont for some reason.
or they get you in a spot where you cant quit or they wont pay off. usually it's best not to be in that situation.
but my biggest score i had to play mostly on the wire and did get payed. but i wasn't going to lose. and he was the worlds biggest score
if you got to play him.
