Turning Stone XXV Day 3 Update Thread

Brutal roll for Mario - at 8-7 for Rodney, Rodney misses the 1 in the corner, but the cue ball kicks it in. Rodney runs out for the win.

Thanks for the updates, Kid. We had to leave after the 8PM match was over to get home for the dog. My wife drove while I watched on my phone (oh, the miracles of modern technology), but they ended the stream before the other matches were done. Not even a score update before they signed off.

But thanks to you, I can sleep tonight knowing who is left in the final eight. ;)

And Hunter defeats Dechaine 9-5

I got to hand it to hunter he went abroad last yr and many laughed obviously it's paying off for the young man
Im guilty hear too I saw him play a couple times at the xbo never saw him anything but average

No problemo, sir.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to get out there until later tomorrow, so the updates will be limited to the stream. But it's a lot easier with only four or less tables in action from here on out.

I had a great talk with the Ko brother's translator, and gathered some interesting Ko facts which I will make into a separate thread tomorrow.

Had another great chat with the Molinari folks. They had one of the prototype carbon fiber predator shafts there. Saw Mika giving it a tumble around midnight.

This tournament is so tough and so unpredictable. If someone were to predict that neither Ko brother would've made it to Sunday, I would've never believed it.

Glad you could make it out.

Absolutely, I was talking about just that tonight with others there. Hunter is always in the mix as of late. From the WPA to here, his game is extremely solid in all areas. He really just out played Mike tonight.

He certainly has improved tremendously. I sat by his table during his match with Oscar. Oscar is playing incredibly well and won the match, but I was so impressed with Hunter's play that I was sad to see him get sent to the loser's side. The guy has about the most consistent and perfect fundamentals of anybody in the game right now. Textbook form for every shot he takes.

He is a very meticulous and deliberate young man. A couple years ago at TS I sat next to him while watching a match between Mika and Thorsten. Hohmann missed a shot while bridging on the rail. Hunter immediately started forming different bridges at the table we were sitting at. He continued switching back and forth between them for several minutes until he seemed satisfied that he found the best one. IMO a player who is that concerned with finding the perfect bridge for the situation has just what it takes to continue to improve for some time to come.
