Obviously I CAN!!!! LMAO! Do you analyze EVERYTHING I say???

BTW...I meant FIRST! :D
Your Freudian slips are just too numerous and telling to ignore. I only point out 1/10 of them. What a lucky hubby you have! :D

There's also a Tom and Jerry (yes, the cartoon) episode with pool in it. Well, it's not a whole episode but there's a part where I think Tom makes a bank shot and the ball just keeps hitting the rail and finally Tom sticks his paw in the side pocket and "moves" it over so that the ball finally goes in!

pool on tv

There was an episode on the honeymooners with pool that was awful funny.
ralph gets mad and impatient with norton again.

LMAO...That's right!! It was hilarious with Norton going through all of his pre-shot gyrations and antics. :D :D

Twilight episode is calld "A game of pool". I found it entertaining.

I was thinking about buying a boxed DVD set that included A Game of Pool as well as Kick the Can and some of the other classic episodes ... until I saw the $89.99 price tag. I like the Twilight Zone but I don't think I like it THAT much.

Man oh man, I don't know how I didn't think of this one with my first post. This is possibly one of the funniest scenes ever in the Honeymooners. Norton just keeps dicking around and standing up and taking practice stroke and you can just see Ralph getting more and more mad until he finally explodes. Classic.

On a side note, I'm on a league with a guy that shoots about as slow as Norton. At least one stand up and 20 or so practice strokes with every shot. I felt like Ralph only I didn't quite blow up on the guy cuz he's too nice.

The Brady Bunch episode is great. Mike gets a table (as a gift I believe) and Bobby practices all the time, then hustles Jim Backus, who plays one of Mike's clients. The Dick Van Dyke episode is great too. How about the scene in "Mystic Pizza" with Julia Roberts hustling pool? She looks horribly bad, but supposedly runs the table on some unsuspecting townies. And speaking of Jack Klugman, there's an episode of "The Odd Couple" where he plays straight pool. Then there's the scene in "The Deerhunter" where DeNiro is playing pool in the bar and blasting everything in. I think he plays pool in "Jackknife" too. What's amazing is that actors who are supposed to be good players (in movies) are almost always horrible. Jack Klugman and Jackie Gleason would be two of the exceptions.

I was just wondering what TV shows and movies that I had missed that had something to do with pool. I have seen :
The Baron and the Kid (movie)
Kiss Shot (movie)
Chalk (movie)
Baltimore Bullet (movie)
Pool Hall Junkies (movie)
The Hustler (movie)
The Color of Money (movie)

I hear that there is a Twilight Zone episode that is about pool. I have also seen an episode of Sanford and Son that was about pool. How many have I missed?

The HoneyMooners had an episode about pool. I believe it was said that Ralph Kramden had a high run of 17 at one point.

"The Fall Guy" starring Lee Majors had an episode involving his protecting a down-and-out pool hustler. It had something to do with keeping him sober until a big pool event if memory serves.

There was also an older Chuck Norris movie called "Code of Silence" that had some poolroom action in it. Chuck's character gets beaned with a billiard ball straight in the head during a fight with some drug dealing thugs.

When Starman, the movie, was made for TV as a series, the alien ends up playing pool even though he doesn't know how. A character tells him the object is to make all the balls, and he ask, "All at the same time?" It's been a while but I think he made them all in one shot...not sure about that part.

Anyone from Sandusky???

Pool Shows

There is a Movie called StickMen.. not bad..

There is a Dick Van Dyke episode on pool..
Good Times .. when the father needed rent money he would go down to the pool room.

The Sting 2 .. Jackie Gleason and Walter Mathau (sure I hacked that one) banking for cash.

Fresh Prince has an episode where Uncle Phil turns out to be a hustler..

And the name of the old game show was called 10-20 straight pool. I have a few episodes of that one.

Minnesota Fats has a celeb pool show as well.

and of course.. Were are the ABC Wide World of Sports matches.
I wish you could buy episodes of these.

How about the commercial with Allen Iverson playing pool, does anyone know how he plays ? Just curious ...

Jeff,

Fran Crimi was a technical adviser for "Carlito's Way". The director asked her if she could show them how to make all 15 balls on a break shot :D

And didn't Jenn Barretta do something with the soap "All My Children"??

.

She had a small recurring role as a pool pro on "One life to live" and served as a tecnical adviser IIRC.

One of the main charachters was trying to win the ladies world championship or something and Jenn played the reigning champ.

(Yeah I watched it) :p

some of it anyway

Yes. The same one where he was on fire over Cheryl Tiegs, got blown up over Raquel Welch and went fast with a girl named Bo. It's interesting that that's one of the more popular 80's shows that hasn't made its way to DVD boxsets. As you noted, it's not been re-run on TVland, or if it has it only ran briefly.

Anyway, I'm digressing so I'll go back to the topic. As I recall in that episode there was some fair to good pool action going on. I don't recall all the particulars of the plot but it had something to do with Colt's group of people keeping a pool hustler sober until some big tournament or pool related event.

Three Stooges

The Three Stooges had a few classic episodes with pool in them. You can just imagine the slapstick hijinks they can come up with on a pool table.
I think Charlie Chaplin had some shows with pool, too.

I saw an old Walt Disney clip about geometry a couple of nights ago. It had Walt Disney playing pool with Donald Duck. It said that Walt played pool a lot and that he was very good at it. Who knew...
