Two-sided ball rack

I might be interested in one of the ball racks that is open in the back (basically a two-sided rack). I'm getting shakier in my advancing years and could dig a rack that could be pushed forward for a few inches before being lifted. I seem to always rattle one of the back corner balls on a full rack of 15 balls.

My wife and I saw one on Youtube being used in a tournament, so I know here's at least one out there. Are there any for sale is my question.

I DO NOT want the rack with the front hinge that folds. And...I prefer (insist actually) that it be some type of metal.

Does anyone know where I can find access to one of these racks? I've exhausted my searching ideas. TIA
 
I was having the same issue and glued a couple pieces of wood to my wooden triangle. I can move it forwards and up with no problem now.

Been using a Diamond poly rack and it works fine. Room inside to push balls forward, easy to get off.

It’s called the smart rack. It’s being used in the ultimate pool tournaments. Ozone billiards carry it.

I'm also finding it harder to get the rack off cleanly. I think the room racks are a little short on space.

If it's your home table you might consider the Perma-Rack which places a donut at each ball location. It's what Jayson Shaw used for his 832 record run. (Not sure if they used the Perma-Rack, but it helps a lot with the placement.)
 
If I were going to tackle this...
Id buy a Diamond molded plastic rack. Flip it over and fill the void with epoxy, and band saw the back end off. Epoxy should help the rigidity of only being 2 sided. :)

Cheap and effective.

Yep, that Ultimate rack is the one, but too pricey for my wallet! Thanks though.

I just noticed that this is the rack with the hinge at the front. I'm afraid the hinge would eventually wear to where it would affect stability.

Don't matter no-how, I ain't paying that kind of money for it anyways.

I'm going to look into taking the back portion off of the back of my Delta-13 Elite and see how stable it is.

If you removed most of the back, leaving only a thin bar across the top of the back, I think you could lift the back and push forward pretty easily. The bar would give you stability.
 
LOL I went out to the shop to solve this problem and started with my delta and some flat bar. Could see right away that I would need a more sturdy jig to heat and bend the aluminum. Then I saw this old wood rack sitting here and I hit the chop saw and Boom! 2 sided rack that works just perfect.

I’ve always wanted an opened back rack myself. Might try that one

A side note, why in the world do they insist on destroying the red/yellow ball set with an 8 ball? I want a set of pure color and pure black. An 8 ball doesn’t stand out amongst regular pool balls but it seems like a gaudy glass diamond nose ring on the Mona Lisa when paired with the reds and yellows.
 
The Diamond wooden rack is oversized, and has side grooves. Very easy to lift without disturbing the balls. For 14.1, when the break-ball is close, I substitute the Delta, which also has grooves. Neither is cheap though.
BTW: I find any rack is unlikely to be a perfect triangle, and (assuming the balls aren’t worn undersized), a really tight rack usually is achieved with only one specific point facing forward. I compensate with wear by lining the triangles with progressive layers of packing tape.
