Just recovered a Valley 8ft today, and you can clearly see the result of the damage in the side pockets from not folding the cloth correctly. This is for all you no fold hacks out there!!

As well as anyone who feels cleaning glue build up off the slate is either to much work, or the work is beneath you, because you're to good to do this level of craftsmanship!!!

If scraping glue off isn't your thing, stick to cherry picking your jobs, but don't call yourself a pool table mechanic if you can't do the whole job, and everything required to get the job done right!!

That's because no one here working on pool tables has any respect for the equipment they're paid to work on. Almost everyone that works on Valley pool tables, sure don't mind getting paid, but don't know shit about how to make them play right because after all, they're just VALLEY bar tables anyway, who cares!!!!!

The problem is, they don't know shit about working on them, and don't CARE to know about working on them RIGHT, they just want to get PAID like they're professionals in this trade!!!

If there’s ANY table mechanics in the SPOKANE area that are reading this, you're being put on notice, I'm coming after ALL the bar table work you do, and I'm NOT leaving NOTHING for any of you to work on!!!

Anyone in the Spokane area what to see how the Strachan Superweave cloth plays, visit the Special K Pub, it's the only table right now in Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho with it. When you come in the bar, you won't miss the table, trust me!!!!

See the back side of these rails? See how the cloth is only wrapped behind the top side back of the rails, but NOT around the bottom back side? When idiots recover the rails like this, the rail nose height is tilted downward because the cloth on the top back of the rails works like a shim, tilting the nose down, and by not wrapping the cloth around the bottom back side, the cue ball starts hopping off the rails as the cloth breaks in, and when that happens, the rails start playing real springy and starts banking short, so the table plays like shit,because of the stupid table mechanic that worked on it last!!!

I see that crap down here too. Spray glue built up around the top of the slate, and the cloth not wrapped over the bottom of the rail. The latter makes the tables play really terribly.

Cheapest job done? Even if the bar owners paid 3x more, they're still getting the same hack work done!!!

From what I've seen, the so called table mechanics working today are worse than they were 40 years ago when I first started working on pool tables!!! All of them want to work in the home table market because they can charge what ever they want, because for the most part, home table owners don't know shit about their pool tables!!

But the bar table industry is literally crying for someone that KNOWS what they're doing, and WILLING to pay MORE for professional work to be done, but no matter who they hire, and for what ever the table mechanic wants to charge, they just DON'T have the skills or desire to perform a professional job!!!

I went back to the Special K Pub last night just to see how well liked the table was, because k owners one there last night knew I was the one who worked on the table.

The bar has 2 Valley 8fts, the second one being .50 cents a game, and was recovered by Tom & Chris Billiards in February. And they charged over $700 in which they were supposedly installing new rails on as well. They even took the rails with them, came back a week later to finish the table. I took one rail off that table yesterday and showed the owner, all they did was replace the cushions, they DIDN'T replace the rails with new ones, and it took them a WEEK to finish the job!!!

The Valley i worked on, I raised the price to .75 cents a game, bar owner wasn't sure about the price change though

Last night, the owner was there, and couldn't believe the waiting list of people signed up to play on the .75 cent table, and no one, and I mean NO ONE played on the second Valley all night long

When I left the bar yesterday, the owner asked my why I didn't work on the second table as well. I told her, pointing to the tables, THIS is what you get for. 75 a game, and THAT'S what you get for. 50 cents a game, she looked unsure! I told her, you'll have a better understanding when her evening crowd comes in, smiling at her, saying, it'll be crystal clear by the end of the night

I left the bar last night around midnight, but as I was leaving, Julie, the owner gave me a big hug, her husband shook my hand, and they both we laughing when they said, "it's crystal clear RKC" laughing!!!

I said good, then when I come back and fix the other Valley up, I want you to put a for sale sign on both tables for $2000 each, as is, because that's going to be your down payment on 2 new Diamonds

They said okay!!!!

There's an outfit down here quoting truly outrageous prices to home owners. No idea what kind of work they do. Quoted one guy $1800 to set up an 8 footer that had been moved to his garage.

Is it bad to just replace the cushions? I thought replacing the rails was a labor saving thing. Either way, you should do the job you are contracted to do, not the job you feel like doing.

Replacement cushions come at a cost of about $275, but if the mechanic don't abuse them, they can last for about 8-10 recoveries.
