At 4-8, Dana tried cheating an 8 near the long rail and rattled it to let Melinda back in it. She followed up with a bnr and has now made another ball off the break and is looking up at 6-8.
 
She makes the combo, but gets tough. Plays a good safe, leaving Dana a tough bank...under pressure! Dana makes the bank, but hooks herself on the 6. Misses the kick and scratches...pressure kills! Melinda has bih.

Tough loss for Melinda. Always tough when you also get knocked out with only the one loss, a la APA formats. :( She can still say she beat the US Am champ the previous match and ended up even in games after 5-2 and 6-9.
 
Four out of the last six ladies champions came from Mr. Cues qualifier. Congratulations Dana.

I was surprised not to see Betty Sessions playing. She is a former US Amateur champion too. I remember working with her years ago, when she went to college at Southern Poly in Marietta. Very good player. :grin:
