I'm sure he put a lot of thought into it, and I hope he's right, but it sure seems like a good way to kill it on the surface. Will be a whole lot less dead weight in it, for sure.

If that's the case, bunk beds should be set up. :boring: WOW....I feel a miscue here. What made the open so great, most players (the ones that pay the overhead for the Great Players) could save a Grand for room and board and play, all the well knowing they'd most likely go out in two or three rounds. But to double up the entry............here we go again.:groucho:
US "Open your wallet"???? The amateurs is what truly made this venue was it ''was''....entry fee now is Five times what it was in the early nineties....If this change is what is needed, time will tell.

I think he'll probably fill the field or come close...It will be reallly interesting to see if this business model will work at all, or improve on the past if it does work. Should be less greuling for the pros to work through a looser schedule, but they won't get too many easy rounds. Won't be too many A/B players willing to shell out $1K to take a swing. My regret with this model is that I'll miss seeing the surprising unknown road player or local hero or foreigner that shocks everyone by knocking off a couple of HOF'ers before getting eliminated. He should run a parallel open/pro-am at about $250 to pull those guys back down to the area, or he'll get practically no gate.
No shot of field being filled IMO
