Ultraskin Tip Review>>>Soft-Medium-Hard

I would just disagree with garczar a little over PRO being the softest of black UltraSkins. I recall my conversation with Mr Hay through the means of WWW, that PRO was designed to resemble legendary Moori 'gen. IV' (or was it gen. III?) Soft. I did not run any hardness/density tests, neither do I remember any figures which might have been posted here, but from my experience, PRO is harder than SS (and definitely softer than S, as black UltraSkins are on the harder scale "letterwise", compared to some other famous brands).

According to the website they are supposed to be softer.

That's a new section since I last browsed that website. Nice.
Those of you who can't decide which black Ultraskin you like best. Try the Ivory Medium. I have had one on my practice cue for several months and it will still draw the ball fine.

I have 3 Ultraskins on 3 of the shafts. Medium, Very Soft and Pro. Medium have good amount of draw on it. my son uses that shaft with his cuestick. I use both the V/S and Pro. V/S has very good amount of draw. Pro has ridiculous spin and is my favorite. personally, it's a premium tip at an affordable price. too bad the shipping cost as much as the tip. luckily I found the Pro somewhere with no ridiculous shipping fee.

this post might have come late but I tend to agree maybe both with you and garczar based on using both V/S or S/S compared to the PRO. I feel that the PRO could be hitting quite a bit softer than the S/S although as you would describe it, it does seem to hit differently than the S/S. having said that, both tips are awesome but I'm leaning more towards using the PRO more.

All i've ever used is Black med and hard. I did try the Fire and the Ivory(both med iirc) and they were ok but to me the hard or med Black is ideal. never been a soft tip user. As for the pro both Tom(RIP) and the website said they are the softest in the line-up. Tulsa cuemaker Joel Weinstock tried all the soft variations and he told me the pro was clearly the softest. the cue itself has some say in this as well.

I have tried several of the Ultraskin tips and so far I really like the Ivory Medium and Hard tips for my Meucci which is my normal playing cue.
The Ivory tips hold chalk extremely well. I tried the fire Medium and soft but prefer the Ivory.
Yesterday I installed a Black Pro on my old Eckes cue with a 12mm shaft that I use for masse shots.. table length as well as short masse shots.
I have placed a couple orders for a variety of the Ultraskins and have been sharing them with my friends. So far everyone is really impressed with them. The Black tips seem to be in higher demand than the others so my next order will be for a variety of the Black with a couple Ivory Hard for my own personal use.
