Install them and cut them to 4 layers and a dime. Clean them every few days with a little 220 paper. Never scuff them and never pick them and never tap them.

If you miscue, it's you and not the tip.

Kim

I forgot to add ... I sand them and then put 2 drops of thin CA on them them. Dab it off in about 10 seconds with a clean paper towel. Hit it with so CA kicker. Lightly scuff it and put it on with Loctite control gel.

I feel I need to copy some feedback from the other "miscue" thread I just posted:

one of local players got an UltraSkin PRO and later told me, that was the best tip he's played so far. And believe me, he's tried a lot! (basically almost every tip on the market; for the sake of it, he hasn't tried Ki-Techs yet)
That tells something I guess.

Kim, thanks for the short guide on how to install and treat UltraSkins properly. I've been always telling everybody they should have them trimmed down from 2/3 to almost a half for the best performance

I have one guy that makes me trim them down to 2 layers and a dome.........

I've put quite a few on, but usually when it's time for a new tip the customers want something else. I sell them originally, but so far they aren't really selling themselves. Only had a few that want to retip with another ultraskin.

I'm not knocking the tips, just stating the players response in general.

What do those customers want instead?

Ultra skin tips

I have repeat customers that is why I ordered another hundred a few weeks ago and have sold and installed about 30 of those.

Tiger Layered, Everest, Emerald, Triangles, Kamui Blacks and Clears,,,,,,,, it's a spread, not really a strong favorite, but probably a few more leaning towards Kamui stuff. Which means I gotta stock a bunch of different stuff, lol

I only stock Ultraskins...........

I have had only 2 guys that wanted something else for a re tip and I have put on more than 100..........
Those 2 guys are the ones looking for the magic that makes them shoot better....... I hope they find it.

They want a more expensive tip, so they can blame that one as well, I would guess.

I have a guarantee on any of my tips, but I did it mainly when I started buying the Skins.

I recommend a Skin, in any rating hardness. I tell the customer, "if you don't like this tip, I will give you your money back against any other tip that I stock".

No questions asked and my feelings won't be hurt. Just say the word and I will do it.

So far, no one has said anything but good things, and they appreciate the recommend.

I have people coming up to me in the bar and saying, "I want the tip that so and so has on". I tell em, that is an Ultra Skin and that would be no problem to do that for you.

I mean, if I didn't like these tips myself and people were complaining about them, I wouldn't be doing what I am currently doing.

I would be looking for another most popular tip. Regardless of the price that I have to pay for them. I want to be able to make my customers happy. If they're not happy, I lose business, right.

Terry sells good tips for a good price, or Terry sells crap tips. Which would I prefer.

Kim, I always ask the customer if they want the tip left at full height or a couple of layers off. Always 2 layers off.

My experience is the same as Terry's. They sell themselves. Same guarantee and I've never been taken up on it.
Thanks Tom:thumbup:

2 layers is when I normally tell them it's about time to retip  Depends on the dome shape/height, but still that's pretty low.
There are several players of that kind here as well, like any layered tip as low as possible

One guy wants 2 layers and almost flat on a 13.2mm shaft.

I have guys have me take them down to a level not much taller than the tip I just cut off. They get a new tip every 4-6 weeks though. I do the same as you, 4 and a dome hit it with a Williard's dime tool every few weeks, no problems. Brian.
