uniloc to 3/8 pin?

Which Uni-loc ss pin are you talking about, the Radial pin or the quick disconnect? Either pin makes no difference as they both can be converted fairly easily. If your present pin is the Radial then I don't believe changing to the 3/8X10 would change the hit or feel of the cue much.

If your primary goal is the wood/wood hit and the joint pin is a secondary concern, just swap-out the ss jnt. collar for one of wood. It's easy to do and you don't have to touch the shaft. IMO, I don't believe that changing the pin will have a significant influence on the hit in this case. Particularly for the amount of work that would be involved to make the conversion. There is a wide variety of woods that you could select from for contrast with the rest of the cue. For instance, green veneers - bacote jnt.collar. Different woods could offer a different hit. Keep it simple. KJ

IMHO, you could change out the pin easy. The scary part is the shaft. The insert outside diameter is larger than the diameter of the 3/8 pin. The insert would need to be drilled out and the hole plugged. Then re-drilled and tapped. This could go way wrong. I would just leave the cue alone and concider a custom cue or a Mcdermott cue with a predator shaft.

I'll change your Uni-lock into a 3/8-10...no worries...I've done plenty. You can have your shaft insert area plugged with wood, phenolic, or ABS.

Just to let you know Kevin Varney changed a Predator sneaky pete to a 3/8 10 pin for me five or six years ago and it plays alot better than the quick release pin. Kevin added some real nice green and white trim rings to match the veneers and a white hoppy ring surounded with green rings and made the cue a standout, I have the predator shaft and one of KV's custom shafts along with an OB 1 and the cue plays great. Send it to him and you will be happy.

I don't agree. Any competent cuemaker can easily make the change without anything going wrong. Most of us have done it many, many times successfully. It is not necessary to buy another cue or a predator shaft.

ive done it a million times without a problem. you may loose center a hair but that not a huge deal
speaking of this i have to retap a 3x8-10 to piloted 5x16-14. there will be no plugging there though
