Unlikely it is Szamboti because the inner points on the photo do not line up. Like Barry has said to another forum member on here, its easy to line up the main outer points but difficult to line up the inner points. Also, Szamboti's are normally 5/16x14 joint pin.
 
My memory is not strong,i have had a cuemaker kake cues like this forme way back,the pointed pin reminds me of craig peterson

i might be wrong,but if i could see the rest of the cue in person i might make a better guess,if it is a peterson the points would be very good,nice veneers too

No offense intended John but, even if it is one of the makers mentioned I think you would be hard pressed to
get that kind of dough out of an unidentifiable cue.

Ya know, it could very well be a Joss West with a replaced ivory joint and butt cap ... then again it could just be a well made one-off.

It's possible that it might from a good custom cue maker, the build quality does look nice enough to be.
 
Interesting..... when I saw a close up of the rings I thought TAD. I didn't know Ariel's influence was by TAD.

My hunch is that it is an early Ariel Carmeli. The reason why I say that is because the pin is shaved the same way as a TAD Harvey Martin tribute cue, also the joint is a solid piece similar to TAD cues for his big pin. The fancy veneer ring work matches what TAD would have done, though there are other cue makers that have used fancy veneer rings with different color schemes. Ariel Carmeli has stated he was influenced by TAD's work since his involvement in cue repair at Best Billiards in Santa Ana where they used to stock TAD cues on a regular basis. I even got to test hit a TAD1M at Best Billiards back in the day. But, then again, it's just a hunch. I'm not positive that it is.
