Ok. So how many people made miraculous buys? Bought totally on a whim and just had to buy it? Like playing poker, blind. How much were YOU ever willing to laydown on a hunch? I don't mean you saw it, knew what it was and then stole it, I mean really took a chance totally blind.

I'll post a few with some background....

Cue number one: I was sent some very blurry pics of this cue and I knew that it was a decent cue but did not know the maker. But because it was right in our wheel house, I took a shot on this cue for 1200... My inclinations was the worse case it was a Palmer. This is a 1200 scratch off... cue ended up being a Gus.

AND... the cue was copied by competition sports/Adam for one of their collector series... lol

Keep in mind, I got these around 1998-2002 when the internet was young. Not many places to go and not much competition. There are still good buys out there, just have to look hard.

Most recently... a Schrager that was purchased for a few c notes... on ebay that was unknown...

A while ago I went into a newly opened second hand store. I found a nice clown picture for my son. Then I spotted it! Over in a corner as if it were hiding - waiting for that special person to find it was a beat up pool cue case. My heart raced, was this the day I finally find that long lost valuable cue?
My hand shook as I opened the case to find a beat up Winston cue.

I love that Palmer! That recent one you bought I had bookmarked and forgot to bid:)

I got this one recently for 120. I still have no idea if it was a good buy.

Then a few months back I got this one on ebay, bad pics so I took a chance at 50 bucks. Might be a Paradise?? Ferules are screw on.

Send me the bottom cue and you can double your money on it. :)
Nice find!

I have found a couple or three, but nothing high end or dramatic.

At the flea market a couple weeks ago there was a cheap tube case. The tag on it said $65.00. As I looked down at it the lady spoke up "Take a look! That's a Vintage custom collectible pool stick, Willie Mizerak used to play with one." I swear that's exactly what she said.

So I opened it. I found, in pristine condition by the way, a cue with not a single scratch on it. I don't believe it had ever been played with. It was a pristine example of that most famous custom cue maker Mr. Bud Weiser.

I'm still looking for my garage sale Balabushka. :o

"last year I picked up an early Palmer,
At a garage sale in my neighborhood" $$10.00
I didnt even see the Palmer engraving in the butt until I got the cue home :o

Several years ago I got an old 4 point 4 veneer cue from a pawn Shop,
"really thought it was a Gus',
until I bought a set of joint protectors for the cue,
that required a 5/16 18 thread protector ...
the cue turned out to be a Richard Black

Are you selling the Bud Weiser? That is funny. Willy Mizerak was a player!

Are you kidding?

I can tell you where it is...but I couldn't afford that. Maybe someday if I save up my money I can get a Weiser cue......

I have a feeling it's still there.....oh...and it had a cube of chalk in the pouch as well as an APA pin on the carry strap....bonus!

But since you mention it, I do have a very interesting Winston cue. But I should probably move this to the for sale forum if you are interested in that. I believe it was made by Mr Richard Joshua "R. J." Reynolds. Now, I don't know for sure, you can search the forum....I have a feeling you would have a tough time finding another Reynolds cue here....and that makes it RARE! :) It's marked 20oz and I would put a brand new tip on it for you....just 'cause you're a great guy. I'll polish up the warp resistant fiberglass shaft for you too. Watch for it in the for sale section. I'll give you first crack at it since you seem interested in this type of cue. If you move fast I'll thrown in a cube of genuine Sportcraft chalk. :)

Bought this Palmer for $200
