Trying to figure out who may have customized this Hoppe. I believe the cue was purchased in the Midwest in 1957 for $16 and a additional $18 for the nylon wrap and added rings. I do know the two additional shafts were made in the late 60's or early 70's by Jim McDermott. Any ideas, Thx

Not sure. Maybe have an idea.

Can we see the joint insert on the original shaft as well as the end of the butt?

Cool that it is known McDermott made the shafts, that would have been before he opened what we now know as McDermott cues.

Very cool cue.

I'll get more pics later tonight. The cue saw a lot of money games with Willie Munson as the rival, from what I was told.

I'll go against pretty much everything I've seen and take a wild guess that Eddie Laube made it, either before he developed his patented joint or by special request.

Rocky Tillis used the three ball a lot, but he almost certainly had nothing to do with this cue.

Maybe Gordon Hart?????

The original owners name was Dick Hinsforth. I picked it up in 2013 from a close friend of his because he was losing his sight. I've thought about restoring it or converting it, but haven't been able to pull trigger as its so nice as is.

1 pic at a time

It appears a phone can only load one pic at a time.

I would not restore or convert anything about this cue.

Laube? maybe. That's what I was thinking.

I wouldn't mess with it.

I'm 100% sure that's a Rambow butt, but the joint and collars were changed out at some point in it's life by another cuemaker.

A friend said tascarella may like to restore it? Leave as is or spend some money?

I have a very nice one piece Wille hoppe I'll trade you anytime you'd like to convert a cue. Doing anything to this cue would be a sin.

The age and wear tell the story of this cue. Refinishing and rewrapping it erases all the history.

Like I said. I have a perfect 19 ounce fat one piece you can convert, wrapless if you like. I'd love to work a deal for this. Check your private messages.

I have decided to stay with my initial feeling and leave the cue as is. I have not decided if I want to sell it or keep it. Before I do anything I would like to determine what it's value may be. I sent Mark at ClassicCues some pics, waiting to here back. The Rambow on his site, looks very similar except for the joint rings.

Sent a email to Mark at ClassicCues about a ID and appraisal but have received no response. If anybody is in contact with him, please let him know. Thx
