Update on the Des Moines pool scene

hell no i just have 1 day off!! thats horse maneuer.

Horse manure is pretty close to my job description...

Santa is delivering me a little something something later today or tomorrow. Can't wait. Glad old Saint Nick is using USPS instead of Reindeer-Package Service. The deer droppings are hard to get out of my downspouts.

If I'm going to the woodshed, I'm taking my new toy with me...

One pocket

One pocket is by far my favorite game...I just wish I had more time to play it.

To play the game at a high level there are so many skills that are used more often in one pocket than while playing the other basic pool games. Running balls, shot making, safety play, kicking, banking, strategy...and all of this while controlling both the object ball or multiple object balls AND the cue ball on every shot.

Now, I like 8 ball, 9 ball, 10 ball and 14:1 too, but safety play, kicking and banking are all much smaller slices of the pie in those games. Running balls is the primary skill needed in those games.

And on top of all that, it doesn't get much tougher than bunting and banking balls towards your hole for most of a game of one pocket, and then your opponent leaves you a long difficult shot at your hole that you have to fire in with a good stroke...It can be hard to pull the trigger knowing you will sell out if you miss.

I hope all of that makes at least a little sense.

More than a little Mike. I agree with you -- I enjoy the game a lot, but don't get enough time to play it.

It's challenging to say the least.

Where's the USPS guy? I got tracking beacons all around and no movement today...

I felt hustled reading that somehow lol.

Are you secretly soliciting for a one pocket game?

I'm trying to read between the lines but you only single spaced the post!

Not secretly. I would rather play one pocket, it just takes so long to play that really you need at least 3 or 4 hours to play a decent session. If I have the time I am always willing to match up and make a fair game.

I will play for any amount from $10-$50 per game, but probably leaning towards the lower end during Holiday season.

I knew it! I fluently speak pool. I really don't know who would play you besides the normal 4(Justin, Chance, Fenton, and Henderson).

I start my vacation on the 18th and I'm sure we will hook up and play some more 10 ball or something like that. I had fun playing that night.

We could take it to text messages and set up a cheap one pocket game. I want to get someone some good practice in before they go play again.

***Different Note*** Anyone seen or heard from Phil lately? I called him and a lady answered the phone and acted like she didn't know Phil. So does anyone have his new phone number or a way to get in touch with him? I haven't seen him in over about 2 months and I just want to make sure he's doing okay in this weather.

I saw him two days ago at Stix before I came up to Square One. He seemed allright, but I didn't get a chance to talk to him to see how he was doing.

I'll take 9-7 and we can play for all of those amounts. We will start at $10 and increase each game until we get to $50. $10,11,12,13,14.......$50

Thats like, 60 games or something. lol

And the only two catches are that you have to play all the games in one sitting and post all the money up front....

I have played a number of other people in Des Moines...Troy, Ray, Brent, etc. and try to match up as evenly/fairly as possible.

I should be free to play a few nights the week of the 21st.

mike, i heard Romeo was looking for a game

You all gotta work on your math skills...

My math is correct buddy. I'm an engineer remember that! There is 41 games to be played from $10-$50/game. If you don't think that equals $1230 I'd like to interest you in some ocean front property in Idaho!

LOL Romeo aired a woman, I've never heard of that. Guys get beat by gals from time to time but I sure haven't heard of a guy airing a girl.

What's the over/under on how long before he starts showing up at Big Dogs? He's at Big Shots almost everynight in case anyone wants to go flatten the tires on his truck.

I put the over /under at 11 days, or say the 27th. After he takes his christmas gifts back
