The more out of town players the better!! If all the big boys show up and someone from Des Moines still wins it, great!! This thread, this kind of tourney, live stream, and all the behind the scenes drama, just add to the rep of the Des Moines pool scene!

Do you really think it adds to our rep? We are a joke to most places. We are a place people stop to pump up while they are low on funds. I've been here over a year, I have never ever ever seen someone from out of town walk out of our pool room with less money than they came in with. If they come on Sundays, they win the tourney. If they come to gamble, they win the money.
Jason R. made a post on here at some point that I disagreed with then but I totally agree with now. Road players and out of towners need to be out running the nuts here. When they don't have to, they just take the money. People should move pride out of the way and get the 6 and a couple games on the wire, guess what, these guys are out of town, they'll still play. If they don't who cares no soup for them.
Maybe you're right, we are a joke as pool players, when it comes to playing people like Jesse Bowman for $ anyway. What do you expect, we don't have any great players living here...we have good players, but how does anyone become great without great competition. We don't have anyone to make us better here. We play one another all the time, which doesn't make us better, it just ends up creating drama. If anyone from Des Moines wants to be great, they better hit the road or something, cause playin here won't do you any good!!!
It doesn't help that we have no reason for great players to come to town either! If we had bigger tournaments I think that would help. Most of the time the only reason Jesse will ever come here is for the "Oil Man". He shouldn't be the only draw to Des Moines!!!
