Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Just for some exposure, I would like to say that Bruce put a tip on my cue and it is excellent. The best part is that he is so customer service driven, I didnt even have to drive up to des moines to get this done. Thanks again.

That's how he gets down, a true champion!

The champions are very beatable. It is BARTABLE pool...ANYONE can win!

In these open bar table tournaments, there's always

-- Champions that run smack into other champions
-- local B players that finish high

Besides, it feels really good to finish higher than you expected or to beat somebody you weren't supposed to beat.

For the $60 entry fee and no travel costs for locals, it's a no-brainer.

Support the tournament!

Thank you Troy! I'm glad I could help!!

How many people did they get in one pocket? How many currently on the sign up for nine ball even though I am sure there will be some late entries?

I believe it was in the low 40's. The place was packed. Not sure exactly how many currently signed up for 9 ball though. Frosty was guessing from who he saw was signed up, that there it would be upwards of 90+. I heard that a lot of people were just coming for 9ball. I thought the calcutta was a little weak. The top blind was $425, and Richardson picked Bowman. The other blinds were in the low $300s which were Beau, Jesse Engle, and Shuff if I'm not mistaken. It should be quite a tournament.

Props to BigTruck for an awesome setup, and from what I could tell when I actually got home, a flawless stream. Ray is a class act all the way!!

We got 36 people for the one pocket. I didn't play just hung out and bought Shuff in the calcutta. Rick Goulden got Beau Runningen. Jason Richardson got Jesse Bowman. I think the first night of the tourney went fairly smoothly. They are paying out 8 guys I believe so the payouts are stronger than if they paid out 9th-12th.

Beau somehow beat Jesse 3-0 in the first round now Beau plays Brandon Shuff today. Just saying they somehow all ended up in a little tiny piece of the bracket which was amazing to me. At least that means whoever loses between Beau and Brandon won't have to play Jesse until the end of the losers bracket, that's the only consolation in it.

1st in the Calcutta pays almost as much as the tourney does.

Come play in the 9-Ball tonight and this weekend. I know Randy really really was hoping for more people and is really really hoping for a large turn out tonight. I know he was disappointed to see some of us not in the one pocket that he probably expected would play, I don't really love the game, I just play when forced to for the most part. I will play in the 9 ball though for sure. Hopefully the 9-Ball gets over 64.

My prediction, last time this tournament happens for a while.

Did you see how many are on the list for 9 ball? I am sure some late bloomers will pop in there.
The 9-Ball signups so far are around 20-30 people. The key is who is going to come tonight for the tourney? Other part is who is going to support the tourney locally? Olathe works because they have 60 locals that play, add champions and out of towners and you get a gang of people playing.

Oh and for the poker tournament guys, Brad Baker has said he is going to sign up, get a call when he has to play and drive over and miss a few blinds. I'm sure with as bad as these guys want numbers this weekend arrangements can be made. So I think the poker guys can find a way to do both if they want to. Tonight they are only playing one round of the winners bracket.

I left around 11 last night, but couldn't sleep so I started watching the stream. I finally got to bed around 12:30ish.... and woke up at 3:30 to go to work. I'm assuming my body will start shutting down around the time the tournament starts tonight...

Liberally apply Caffeine. Start with Mt. Dew, switch to Amp, and then to Red Bull. Put in small shots of cappachino as needed.
