Let the games begin!!! Last night @ Breakers in Mobile, AL an 8-player ring game got underway. The players were as follows:

Table 1: James Walden
Lil John
Gabe Owen
A local guy(don't recall his name)

Table 2: Shannon Daulton
James Barracks
Jeremy Jones
Cliff Joyner
After a few hours of play the field was narrowed to 4.

Lil John, Gabe, Shannon, & James Barracks. After a couple more hours the man w/ all of the cash was: James Barracks AGAIN!! He won this ring game last year as well. Lil John finished second after knocking SD out and Gabe finished fourth after SD knocked him out.

The tournament hasn't started yet but as soon as I get some info.- will post.:)

Yea it was 2,000 a man.

I really like ring games- they are always alot of fun to watch.

Clarification

A Ring Game is where players play until they themselves decide to drop out.

The match you described is what we call, 'Last Man Standing' or 'Holdem' tournament.

And remember to dot your i's and cross t's .... lol

Hey JAM it's Marge! The tourney had a full field of 128 w/ alot of really good players. The tourney did not get started until around 5:15 this afternoon. It is a long and grueling event for just a weekend. Matches will be played until the wee hours of the morning. Some of the players that are here- everyone listed from the ring game plus Hennessee, Tony Watson, Bill Bailey. I'm sure there are more - I will have to ask SD- he is napping right now- getting all of the rest he can. I haven't been in the pool room b/c I brought my boys w/ me for a little vacation before school starts. But I will get all of the news and let you guys know.

THANKS, Marge, for the GREAT report. The inquiring minds at home very much appreciate it! :)

Is that the Bill Bailey that used to hail from Virginia and then moved to Texas?

128-player field, that's a big one. With the tournament winnings and calcutta monies, some player is going to leave Mobile with a big smile on their face! :D

Here is my FAVORITE pic of Shannon Daulton, posing here with Keith. They fought a bloody war for that doggone trophy at the Super Billiards Expo, and Shannon came out on top. You can see he really likes that trophy, and it's the prettiest trophy I've ever seen! I'm sure it looks great in Shannon's trophy room! :)

Will be staying tuned for more tournament happenings. Thanks again!

Thought that was you

Hey Marge, This is Daniel. I couldn't think of anyone else from Greenville that would put "The Cannon" in their name. I imagine you guys have been pretty busy with the hectic schedule lately. Good luck to you and try to get back around here sometime soon.

JAM-- I would assume that the Bill Bailey she is referring to is from Chattanooga. He plays very well and is always a threat in tournaments. The last 2 weeks he has placed 1st and 2nd repectively in a couple of large open tournaments, both drew great fields. He operates Diamond Billiards in Chattanooga.

BTW-- Marge, the 29th of Sept. Charlie's in Chattanooga is having a 3500.00 added tournament on Valleys w/ Simonis. If you guys are not exhausted from Chesapeake you might want to come.

Stay away from the red Kool-Aid.:D

Marge or Ktown,

Thanks for the info. Isn't Shannon's tournament at Sporty's in Greenville next weekend?

Thanks
Mike

I think there may be two Bill Baileys. :p

Is this that Bill Bailey, sitting in the back seat?

Shanon and Keith are Aries.I never saw a match between two Aries men before.I am interested in studying the flow of energy when two Aries are battling for a trophy.Shanon is well known for one liners so as keith.I was wondering who out smarted whom in one liners:cool: .

That's a hard call. :p

Keith spent a large part of his adult life living in Tennessee, and Shannon grew up in the same neck of the woods. The two of them are pretty funny when they get together. I've only witnessed them battling it out on a field of green several times. Shannon is a nice guy, fun to be around, and practices old-school etiquette, a trait only seen in a few American road warriors. I think it is this trait that separates Shannon from all the rest, and the fact that he can sing himself a mean country acapella too! :D

At the last Super Billiards Expo, during the Pro Am bar-box event, Keith ended up on the other side of the table with Shannon once again, only this time it was fighting to advance from third place. Each of them had their break working, and if one of them didn't make a ball on the break, the other would run out. Back and forth, neck and neck, and perfect patterns. They actually seemed to be having fun, even though they were trying to beat each other. It was such a contrast to a match Keith played earlier in that tournament when his unnamed opponent whined and moaned after every game. :(

Without a doubt, Shannon Daulton is one of the most entertaining players in the United States today, and I wish there were more players like him. What a lot of people may not realize is that Shannon's still a young'n by pool player standards and can play ALL GAMES well. It's always a pleasure running into him on the tournament trail. :)

I'm not sure why Keith is sitting on Shannon's lap in this picture, but it was one of those nights when the two of them were feeling no pain! They had me laughing so hard; I had to snap this picture. If only I had brought my recorder with me! ;)

Updates in Mobile, AL

Hello All!!! Let me fill you in on what all is going on. I am still half asleep. SD played his last match last night at 2am. It was late when we finally got to bed. I know that Gabe got beat by Tony Watson 9-2 his first match and then forfeited his second match. He went home after someone gave $800 for him in the calcutta. So.... Right now Bill Bailey from Chatt. (Diamond Billiard Club), is playing Shannon. The winner of that match plays Jeremy Jones. As soon as I know I will let you all know. Should be a great match b/w Bill & SD. How crazy is this? Bill and Crockett drew each other first out of 128 players!! That suxs to come to a tournament w/ your best friend and have to play the first round. Happens all the time.

Action news- I know that Hennessee and Tony played the other night and Hennessee beat him. Lil John and Hennesee were playing a set and had to stop b/c of the tourney- they played for a while and were even so they quit. They were supposed to play some more but not sure if they have. I am relying on SD for all of the updates and we all know he's not much for details- wish I could go and find out myself b/c I am sure there is more going on than he is telling. He should be calling w/ the news from his match soon.

Hey Daniel! Hope you have been good. We have been so busy w/ the 8-ball tour and the IPT. We are trying to put together another tourney in Knox., TN. Bob and Wes came down for the golf tourney in GVL. If we have one it will be sometime in Oct. I think on one of the Vols off weekends.

The Great Southern 8-Ball Tour will be in Greenville, SC @ Sporty's (formerly Gametime) on August 26-27. And we will also be having a golf tourney on the 28th @ River Falls Golf course. Daniel, if you can come down and play- the course is beautiful. We will have some spirits too!!
Mike, I know you and Rhonda better be there. JK!

Talk you you all soon.

No prob. I wish I knew more but you know where I am coming from. Shannon has been playing a lot of pool lately. He's been practicing and we have changed our lifestyle a bit. Not that we partied a whole lot- LOL- except at tournaments, he has been swimming and trying to eat a little healthier. The IPT is so grueling that you have to be in shape. This tourney is almost like a mini IPT event considering that you have to play all day and night.

I know he really wants to win again and I am ready for him to. So we'll see- they have predicted the finals to be b/w 8am-10am Mon. morning.
