take whatever you have, to Kinkos/FedX store. MAKE THEM PACK/SHIP IT. INSURE IT @ TRIPLE VALUE. they are 100% responsible. save the BOL in YOUR NAME as shippper - so the claim $$$$ can come back to you.

they take better care of their own. they take special care when it's insured. and they will pay out to you - triple. 200% profit....

and air freight it. it's monsoon season now & can get waterlogged if "grounded" on a container. (unless your end game is 200%)

Sound advice

For any business shipping via FedEx go through the process of becoming a certified shipper. In my previous job I handled all outbound. We did small package with FedEx, LTL, TL, and ocean container. I took the time and hassle to go through the process with FedEx and once they approved us we had very little damage. When something was damaged they paid right away. We shipped new and used computers, and electronic components world wide.

Some of the cues I've seen recently could use a little help with straightness. Maybe a long ride with the following carrier....

If you ship with United Parcel Service, and of anything happen to you package, it is your fault. Their insurance is like a Policeman depending on a Bullet Proof Vest made of Toilet Paper.

The insurance part may very well be true. Depends on what the value of the item is that you are shipping. If it is a fair amount, it might cost a bit more to use Fed Ex but worth the piece of mind.

Seems to be many bad news stories re UPS lately so I would be hesitant on them.

Either that or get the buyer to pay a bit more and go for Expedited Air or what ever the term is for that at USPS.

Last time I went to send anything to the US, I inquired about air. Over $100 for a little item so that was out. Canada Post is crazy with shipping.

If you buy anything from someone who uses UPS, be sure to have them instruct the delivery person NOT to just leave the package outside your door without making sure it's in your hands.

I had one UPS driver leave a pool cue jammed under the handle of my apartment door, and I had to climb out a window to get out!!
 
With my office I ship international often with UPS. They are pricey but they do honor the insurance and timing. If you ship 3 day insured and it arrives on the 4th day I get a full refund. I have only had 1 issue and that was due to customs so just make sure all your paperwork is correct and you should be fine.

this covers my acct in the event of defect or transit damage. BUT - new rules are 90 days claim.

i shipped a $30K order of chairs/stools. customer wanted to charge via AmX @ DEC 31 for tax breaks - done. ETA was FEB. shipped/recd MAR 1. by MAY, we discovered it was a bad batch & seats were defective. my (ex) mfg screwed around & delayed & refused to honor the 1-yr warranty. my acct filed a dispute w/ AmX, per me.

the chairs were technically 60 days old. AmX covers for 90 days claim. Warranty was 1 year. but the CHARGE....was DEC 31. denied.

i fought AmX for almost a year on this. everything was completely documented. and right. but in this AmX case - the customer wasn't. out $21K. (at least the mfg is now GOB)

I like to surf (so bad at it) and ride (pretty good at it) and I dig butts so I like both of your avatars.

There is an experience (or volume) level you can achieve with PayPal where they don't take the money back until the dispute is settled.

I'm at that level with PayPal but wasn't (if it exists) with my Credit Card bank (when I had a terminal). They would take the money back from me while any dispute was being investigated. I just figured it was SOP until PayPal informed me that they would no longer do it with my account.

UPS insurance works, as long as they pack it.After the Black Boar got broken by USPS,I used UPS and they packed it and shipped it overnight.It cost over $200.00,but I slept well knowing that it was properly packed and insured.My buyer was happy too.It was a $3000.00 Tascarella and I wasn't taking any chances.

I wouldn't trust shipping insurance from any of the shippers you had mentioned. I think fedex won't insure anything over 1k for international shipping (someone correct me if I'm wrong) If anything I'd be seeking coverage through my home insurance.
