Us Bar Table Coverage??

This is the worst coverage of a "major" tournament I have seen in a long time. The brackets are hard to find, and if you do find them, they are way behind. Why are the brackets linked to the BCAPL website. What is going on here?? Does anyone care?? Is it because it's a bar box tournament? When a winner is crowned in each tournament, there is not even one word about it.

Frustration!!!!

I could not have stated it better myself...I have many friends there at the tourney and the coverage truly has been TERRIBLE....

I fell your pain brother..... :-(

First off, I wouldn't consider this a MAJOR tournament. JMO.

Secondly, the BCAL is sponsoring the tournament and adding money to boot. They have the right to link their website and ask for people to register to see and chat with what's going on... lots of current updates there also. Plus the brackets infoi

AZBilliards has to have someone there to call in the bracket info, apparently there isn't anyone that will do that.

"The Action Report' has been live updates all day when they are b'casting, which is FREE.

What more do you people want?

Could someone post that link to the brackets?
They have taken the brackets down from the BCA website. They were there yesterday, but when I tried to check them this morning, they were gone.

All I want is decent coverage on a major pool event.

IT is just a guess, but they might be updating the brackets and they won't be available until all the NEW info is input.

Play at the RENO open doesn't start until 10am RENO time (PST)

And you don't think the TAR free video and live updates is Decent?
TAR coverage is great. Without it, the rest of the pool world would be lost.

Ken Schulman - director of the events? - states on the TAR broadcasts that this is the premier major bar table event of the year. Tom, not sure which you think is bigger - except for the BCA league event. Don't know how you couldn't call it major.

The event is huge, I will give em that. 100 player fields & getting thru tournaments in 2 days is no small task. But whoever is responsible for updating the brackets is not able to handle the job. If I did my job that bad, I wouldn't have one. Looks like the Reno people have figured that out since they took the brackets down.

It is Ken Shuman, not schulman, and he and I have worked many tournaments together. He is a great guy and a great commentator.
TAR has proven it can take this coverage to a new level in Pool.

The Reno Bar box tourament may have a dozen pro/semi-pro players. SVB and Gabe being the highest ranked players playing. That doesn't make it a MAJOR event in my opinion.

Updating the on line brackets manually certainly isn't easy and you have to have access to the tournamenet room charts. How many times a day would you want to have these updated? especially when there are two tournaments running at a time.. the 10 overlapped the 9 ball the then 9 ball overlapped the 8 ball.

What do you expect for FREE?

Its absolutely pathetic that you have to ask people on this forum WHO won each tourny(10 ball for example).Even when its been over for a day or two. This tournament may not be some major But its pretty big in the eyes of pool fans.GET WITH IT!
P.S.Tar is doing a fantastic job.Kudos to them.

I think TAR does a great job. Nobody appreciates what Justin and Nasty have done more than I do. But what about AZ? or other pool websites? That's what I'm talking about. I woke up this morning to find that Hennessee and Gabe are playing in the finals. I wanted to find out who finished 3rd-24th in the tournament. The brackets were up yesterday on the BCA site. Now they are gone. No mention of the event on any other pool website. TAR is showing mostly streaming matches and I appreciate their coverage. What abouot the people in the tournament that aren't playing on the streaming tables. I have several friends there, and I'd like to know how they finished in the tournament.

Why do you keep saying "Free"? I pay a fee to this website and others to make them better so they can give me news of billiard happenings in the United States.

And just because something is free, doesn't mean that it can be bad (and I'm not talking about AZ, just things in general). If a site touts itself as a major billiards website giving up-to-date information on the pool world, it shoulD give updates on major tournaments that are going on. When there's a regional event by Viking, or Zuglan, or Shannon Daulton, the results are available the same day. I don't see why the same can't be done for the US Bar Table Championships.

And it's not just AZ. It's IP, and Billiards Digest, and all other pool websites. I think that there are things we don't know that are causing the poor coverage by the pool community, but that's just my opinion.

her is the facts. While we are running this tournament we have no internet connection to send the brackets so we have to shut down the tournament program on the computer and walk almost to the other end of the casino to get a connection to send the info. We have now gotten a second computer to down load the info so we can send that person to the other end of the casino to send the info. Now we will update it every hour or so. Thank you for your patience and concideration, Tournament Director Ric Jones

bracket boards...

I think most here are just wanting to log in and be able to see bracket boards... in another thread, someone stated that the coverage was very slow when the brackets were available ...maybe 6+ hours behind???

We all fully appreciate the live coverage...but where are the updated regularly bracket boards that are missing most of the time...?????

Thanks for the update Ric.

I kinda figured that was the issue, I've had that experience there at the Sands last Dec for the Reno Open. Updates were only once a day minimal and sometimes twice a day. AZ did a decent coverage.

I think there is an unrealistic expectation from the forum public about what constitutes decent coverage.

Compared to just a few years ago when it was only a few paragraphs on the front page and limited updates to the brackets.

Just goes to show, you can't please everyone all the time.
Someone is going to whine...

I'll tell you what Tom, I'll whine a little directly to your face next time I see you out.

As of very late last night, right before the tournament charts were taken down completely, the tournament bracket for the 10 ball portion had still not even been updated. That was over 24 hours after the event had ended. If somebody wanted to go to the chart to find out who won, they could not have found out. Then they took down the charts completely last night. Today the chart is back up and updated and you can finally go and see who won the 10 ball event two days ago on Wednesday. Not very responsive coverage.

The Action Report is an absolutely wonderful group providing a superb service, however, keeping people updated on the brackets is not what they concentrate on or specialize in. They are concerned with showing and updating people on a relatively few marquis match-ups. They are not much help if you want to follow along on how a certain person is doing, or see how your buddy ended up placing, or go back and see who knocked so and so into the losers bracket or who did so and so have to beat to get to their 4th place finish.

Also, only having a few pros in a bar table event does not mean that it is not major for a bar table event. No bar table event draws very many pros. This event is still one of, if not the largest bar table event, and draws the best, or near best overall talent and depth of field when compared to other bar table events. Yes, it pales in comparison to major big table events, but it is not fair to compare it to those events.

I think they could and should strive to provide better coverage. That being said, I appreciate all that they do and understand the hardships endured in putting on such an event and trying to keep everyone up to date. I am happy that we get any updates at all, as it is not something they get any real benefit out of providing for us. And , just like anything else, no matter what they do or how often they update it will not be good enough for some. If they started doing hourly updates, people would wish for real time live updates. Thank you to all tournament personnel and to The Action Report for all that you do respectively.
