Thanks for that. I always like the vibe of a well-attended event. The DFW area has a large pool fan base. I believe it will be packed even if only locals attend. I doubt if they will have an issue with humidity inside.
I get the rest of the world?? Bet.I'll pick a Filipino.![]()

In 1985, I spent a week on business in the Dallas area in August. It was over 105 degrees every day and humid. It was the worst (not hottest) weather I have ever experienced. When my company's headquarters chose to relocate there in 1988, I very quickly chose NOT to go with them. I'm definitely planning on going to the US Open 9ball, but it sure sounds like six days indoors. Thankfully, the indoor proceedings should be fantastic.
I'll keep an open mind here, but Dallas (actually, Frisco is 27 miles from Dallas) in August seems a very strange choice. Other than the Jeddah WPC event that is always played before countless empty seats, the last time a Matchroom major was staged in a really hot, humid city in the hot weather season was when they staged the Spanish Open in June 2023 in Lugo, Spain. I cannot remember an event after which the players complained so much about the humid playing conditions, and to nobody's surprise, Matchroom never returned there, If Frisco is going to be Lugo all over again, heaven help all of us who plan to attend.
I'll trust Matchroom to make this work, but they have got their work cut out. Let's hope they will manage the playing conditions more skillfully than they did in Lugo.
We get that in MN too, just not as often or for as long.not sure what you're saying here. there is no 'Colonial Open' for one just 'The Colonial'. People that live in Ok,Tex,La,etc are used to it. If you haven't faded a hot/humid summer it can be taxing as hell. I played golf in Vegas when it was 115deg and it was nothing compared to a 95deg/70%humid day in Tulsa. Your sweat never evaporates, constantly wiping down with a towel. not pretty.
I used to have a t-shirt with Two Skeletons sitting on lawn chairs under an umbrella saying “but it’s a dry heat”the humidity is what makes it brutal. lot diff than the dry roast in the desert.

No it's not. I grew up in Alabama and Texas and I worked in Texas as recently as 2022. Yes, it is miserable and sucks taking a shower and then immediately needing another one; however, it doesn't come close to not being able to touch a car or when you step out of a casino (Bullhead/Laughlin) when it's 126 outside and that hot air smacks you in the face like a 10 lb sledgehammer.Think of Phoenix with humidity. It is worse.
Yep driving from Houston to Pecos is like driving from Florida to Missisippi.Landman doesn't even begin to describe the distances. If you drive from Dallas to El Paso, you're halfway to Los Angeles.
If there are more than one, what is the address?View attachment 883894
Looking at the surrounding area looks like a shopping mall and a little league stadium. Are there things to do in the area or is it just a suburb with a bunch of office buildings around?
