I’m not backing down.

My mission is to restore the 5 to being a proper color. I’ve been around pool longer than she has been alive, and I’m going to do what ever is necessary to fix this problem. I have the full support of the majority of pool players, rail birds and audience behind me & our collective international movement to fix this error.

The only way this movement stops is if I die because she will not out last me in pool. I’m a lifer. She’s done great things for pool, I appreciate what she’s done, no disrespect at all towards her at all. She made one error. It will be resolved. We as a team-all of us together can and will prevail, The other MR employees are behind this movement as well.

We must continue tirelessly to fix this and we will eventually. Life long pool players will always out last any business decision.

They could put polka-dots on the 5 ball it doesn't matter if nobody can watch it from anywhere. BTW, I'm 100% orange 5 ball
 
I haven't watched any matches until today. I really prefer watching the final 16 only. I like the high production value. I like the play. I like the finality of it. Watching pool burns fans out too, so I like to save the energy for the final day or two:)

Polka-dots would be fine.

The root of the problem isn’t it being purple. It’s that the 4 is purple for 100 years. The pink 4 they are using is ok, make the 5 ANYTHING but purple and it’s fine. Not as good as traditional colors, but it would prevent confusion-which is the core of my mission.

We don’t discriminate around here. Purple balls are cool. Just as long as it’s not purple 5 balls.

it's not disappointing in terms of play quality. brilliant semi-finals. but you might want to check out kaci vs filler, melling vs lee van. close to perfect play.

I had a philosophy class on my first year of college. The premise of half of that class was based on this concept:

Words have no meaning, people have meaning. We as people just use words to express our meaning.


Something to think about. Which is why I’m on this crusade to right the wrong of the misplaced idea the 5 should be purple. I have meaning, my words don’t.

The semi-finals are still up on DAZN (five-hour stream). I expect them to disappear in about half an hour.

When she decides to change the color of snooker balls I’ll cut her some slack, until then the five is ORANGE, the four is PURPLE, and the seven is MAROON!

Naturally he’s played forever as well. Anyone who’s spent the majority of their life with the same color recognization system is going to make mistakes.

Just like if they mixed up the colors on road lights there would be more car crashes. I guarantee that.

People who are newer to pool are less likely to make that mistake. Which probably explains WHY the 5 is now purple…….

I assume it's because of the way broadcast rights are handled. I think how the event will be shown in every country is specified in contracts between the promoter, the producer (Sky Sports?), and the broadcasters/streamers/distributors. The last group wants to send the event out continuously forever and the first two groups want to be paid for every pair of eyes that watches the event. A fourth group, the sponsors, probably wants as much distribution as possible and likely considers that when they offer sponsorship. It's complicated.

I imagine that DAZN pays Matchroom for distribution rights and they only bought live broadcast rights.
