Be Brave, Sarah ...

Be Brave, Sarah ... Just walk right up to Allison, and say,
"Allison, you really need a new hair style" ... and then smile,
turn around and walk away ... lol

Hey Sarah!!!,

Just read Nostroke's post on the latest U.S. Open match results.. :( I know you did your best against Allison... You'll get her next time, and what goes around comes around! It's far from over, so maybe you'll get a second shot @ her and make her pay!!! Big Time!!! ;)

Hope you can share what happened during your match.. I'm curious to hear your thoughts and analysis. Chin up kiddo and keep firin' @ e'm!!!

Well...the match tonight was an ugly one. I can start by saying that if there was ever a chance to beat Allison, it would have been tonight. I had a lot of chances and I just folded. I shot nearly every game and had ball in hand after the break a few times. I guess it was just one of those days.

It is a good thing that tomorrow is a new day. I play at 12:45 against the winner of Tracie Hines and Julie Melman. If things go well, it will be a very long day.

I apologize for the delay in getting this posted.

But the question is...if you were there in person....would you be screamin' at the top of your lungs for my sista to win??? Even durring Fisher's shot???

Of course. There's no doubt in my mind...I'd do whatever I needed to, to help Sarah out. I wouldn't drive all the way to a tournament to just sit there... I'd show where my support and loyalty lies, even when it's Allison on the other end.

Good questions landshark....but I have to say, Dea is starting to smarten up as she gets older. At least she is starting to realize who the cool people are.

Sarah

:o I sort of resent those comments!! Psh! You can't possibly have meant "at least" or be saying  that I am not smart already?! :(

The stress of the tournament must have been clouding your mohawky brain cells or something...and you meant to say "What an absolutely absurd question landshark!...Dea is smart, and just KEEPS getting smarter, because she's cool, which makes me cool too. She's always been such an amazingly wonderful person."

AWWWW :D That's sooo sweet, Sarah. You can have the hairspray anyway.

(Ahem....are you through with my mase yet?)

Hey Sarah....ever see the movie 'Dodgeball'? Remember how the older player with glasses on Vince Vaughn's team had to get angry to play good? Well, I am going to take credit for your win over Tiffany Nelson the other day because I know in the back of your mind you were still pissed off at me. Then after I told you that I really meant no harm you didn't have enough anger to beat Allison. Hope this makes sense......so, get angry and keep winning.

Hey kiddo you do alright!!! Tough break w/Gerda but you won some matches against quality players!!! 4 and 2 isn't bad in my book. You got in the money that's a positive too! You can afford to offer to pay Landshark for her caddy services! Hah!!! ;)

I had a lot of chances and I just folded...

Do you mean it was the pressure that got to you, or was it that your game was off? Either way, you're a PRO, you'll learn from it and get even better! Congratulations on an excellent tournament!!! You made a good accounting of yourself so keep your head high!!! You'll get e'm @ the Nationals in Nov.!!! Have a safe trip back home! Yah darn natural!!! :)

Good one Watchez. Maybe I should get mad more often if that is what does the job.

Today I played okay...not great. My first match was against Tracie Hines. I kept getting ahead two games and then making a dumb mistake to let her back in and tie things up. At hill-hill, Tracie broke and it looked to be over. She missed the one ball and left me what looked to be an extremely easy out. Of course, I had to make things extremely difficult, but still managed to get out and get the win.

My next match was against Gerda Hofstatter. I made some careless mistakes. At 2-1 Gerda, I missed an easy 9. Then again at a critical point in the match, I scratched on a 7. Then to go up 7-5, I missed an 8. The worst dog of the whole match was the final game. It was hill-hill and I played safe on the 4. I got ball in hand and only managed to make the 4. I flat out dogged the five and the easy out. I guess it happens, it just really sucks to have it and give it all away. So I finished with a 13th place finish.

All in all, I learned quite a few things. One, practice is a good thing. It really showed that I was a bit rusty when it came to the pressure situations. I couldn't capitalize and I truly dogged it. Two, that everyone misses and it takes the ability to turn it into a positive rather than thinking about the fact that this great player missed so much. Three, that I have the ability, I just need to apply myself by focusing and practicing hard.

Thank you everyone for the support. I greatly appreciate it.

Sarah

surely you knew this all along

Hey Joey,

Good to hear from you. Hopefully you are doing well. I'm not sure when I will be making it to Chicago. Yes, I room with Debbie at most of the tournaments. She's just a few inches taller than me....or a foot and a few inches. :) I am planning on making it to VF again this year.

Talk to you soon,
Sarah

Hi Sarah,

Just a couple of quick questions.
One, Is there only one way to get into a pro tournament by winning a qualifier?
Two, What can I do to settle my mind while down on my shot?
Pro want-a-be

Hey Bstill,

If you are a girl trying to play professionally, the only way to qualify is through qualifying tournaments. Luckily, there are regional tours popping up all over the place. If you are a guy, I believe you can pay a membership fee and entry fee and play in any of the tournaments. I'm not certain though.

To settle your mind, I'm still working on that one myself. I think everyone lets negative thoughts pop into their heads and I know too many times I have begun to celebrate a win before pocketing the final shot. The best way to avoid that is to take deep breaths and try to convince yourself that you are ready to shoot the shot. You also have to not take anything for granted. I've also learned that your gut instinct is what you should go with.
