Then the question becomes where do you get the money?
That's always the issue. Everyone on here would like to see the game succeed and see the players playing for bigger purses and getting paid in a timely fashion.
The U.S. Open this year was scheduled to payout approximately $166,000. The entry fees only covered (I think each entry fee was $800, correct me I'm wrong) $102,000. That leaves over $60,000 that the promoters need to raise somehow. They try to make up the difference with fees from advertisers (sponsors) and rent collected from Exhibitors. There are also other expenses incurred in a running a tournament such as the fees paid to the motel to use the room where the tournament is held. It's tough to make things work.
So the question becomes how do we get more money into the pot?
