Used Scruggs sneaky worth it??

At a weekly tourney in my area a guy has a not so sneaky Scruggs that he's asking $500 for. I'm thinking about buying it but I have my hesitations and wanted some opinions.

1) The points are uneven. Is this normal or acceptable from a TS cue?

2) The collars joint are different sizes. Once again, is this normal for one of his cues? Or is it more likely that it's not a Scruggs shaft?

Thanks for any responses/opinions.

I've seen them with not perfect points but never without a matching shaft......if its got a TS stamped on the forearm or engraved in the buttsleeve and had a matching shaft and straight then the price would be good.

There are a lot of guys making some very nice cues for that kind of money. If you are having doubts I think that you already know the answer.

matter of fact Bob Frey was building most of those 90's scruggs sneakys in timmys shop..........you can get a brand NEW Frey for 500 or less....

just give him a call.

Well, I have a couple cues already, so I was thinking of it as an "investment". But I'm thinking it's not really worth it. I'd rather wait and find a nicer TS for a little more $

The prices I see people asking for some beat to shit sneakys really make me shake my head sometimes. "But its a Scruggs".... yes and it is missing half the butt cap with a different shaft on it but since it has that TS on whats left of the buttcap you are probably right that its worth at least $800.

Sorry. Been wanting to get that little Scruggs sneaky rant out of my system.

You make money on an investment when you buy not when you sell. Ask yourself just how much more do you realistically think you stand to make and how long it will take to get there. You are never going to double your money on a Scruggs sneaky with one shaft for $500 so how long are you willing to tie up $500 in order to maybe profit $100 or so in god knows when ?

Keep the nickel in your pocket and wait for someone to go busto and buy a $2000 cue for $400. Thats an investment. Paying retail isn't.

I have a Frey birdseye non sneaky plain jane that is in the for sale section currently looking for a buyer for this very nice cue.

Thanks

Kevin
