Using a bridge

Does anyone else carry around a bridge head just in case you end up in a hall that doesn't have a good bridge? I've got one and it's one of the best small investments that I've ever made. Also, if you do have one, do you have a stick to put it on or just use your break stick or some other stick in your case?

I carry a mooserack slipon bridgehead....I can reach the sixth diamond on a niner however sometimes I do need it...I'd never use one of those cast brass ones...you're only asking for a dinged up shaft....

I also carry a Mooshead in each of my 3 cases. The bridge is a very important tool. And I like to have it just in case. Sometimes the Bridge heads and sticks are nasty and I don't want to get the slime on my shaft.:)

Bridge

My wife carries a moosehead cause she is 5' flat, and she has to use it sometimes even on 7' tables.

I on the other hand try to leave myself in possitions where I won't need the bridge at all. (I know things happen, and sometimes you have no choice) Most to the nice pool halls I play at have good bridges, so I don't carry one. And on a 7' bar table I never need one.

So nope I don't carry one with me.

A lot of people say the brass bridge heads will ding your shaft, and I guess if you slam it into the bridge that is possible, but they are normally nice smooth rounded corners, and they glide a lot better than plastic.

So to tell you the truth I prefer the regular old style brass bridge.

It's not for everyone though.

I have a justa bridgehead I keep in my case, I throw it on my break cue when needed.

I think you will find that alot of players carry a bridge head with them.I also carry a moose head bridge and just use my break cue when I need is.I am 6'3 so I don't need it very often but when I do it is in my case.

I use Tiger Products' Corona leather bridge head. Usually I put it on a house cue, but sometimes will use my break stick instead.

I tote the moose head

I tote the moose head. I favor smooth plastic against my cue shaft and I like always having the same bridge head to work with. Any house cue works for a handle although I have removed a ferule and tip with it. I assume the ferule was loose to begin with. I keep it in my bag but will order a few more knowing that sooner or later it will be forgotten somewhere.

I carried a Russo for years, now a moosehead. I even go to the trouble to sand the contact surfaces smooth with 600 then 1000 then 1500 to get rid of the injection mold seam lines. Even if you dont 'drop' your cue onto a metal bridge head, sometimes theres a nick or something sharp that will put nice long gouges in your cues shaft. Again, seldom needed...... but nice to have one with your that you know wont damage your cue. And for 2-3 bucks...... its good on the wallet too.

I've seen brass bridge heads with rough casting flash on them where you rest your shaft....just using one like that I thought I was going to shave a groove in my shaft....
