Can someone tell me how this type of point construction is done?

Are there benefits as opposed to spliced or inlaid points?

V-Bottom Points are actually inlaid points also. They are just inlaid into a V shaped pocket instead of a flat bottom pocket. People have argued the pros and cons many times on here, and it will all come down to hard to prove opinions as to which is better.

My flat bottomed points, are put into a nearly finished butt/ forearm at a nearly finished size. That means that it is easier to keep all of your points even. On the down side I think that it is easier to add multiple vaneers to a "V" bottomed point...JER

Beside aesthetic, with all the trianglular structures, it will stiffen up your cue a bit and it will lessen lateral movement imo.
