Valentine Cue Progress Pic

lets go with a white linin wrap that is speackeld purple if you have it.

Alex,

I can have any wrap available in my shop in one day as I live very close to Atlas.

The only purple available that I saw was purple with white specks. I don't think that would add value as purple heart is not really purple and it might look like a cheaper China Cue.

I would like to suggest a light beige with a brown spec that is a little reddish brown. These two colors are earth tones that will blend with and augment the PH. The beige would not be as much of a shock factor contrasting to the darker areas of the cue it interfaces.

I will PM you some sample photos of some more choices today.

Thanks for you quick replay as I can cut the wrap groove and post some more picks today of that event. I will also show your shaft at .855. I have taken 10 cut over the last 30 days on it and it's on approach to final.

Thanks,

Rick

lets go with what you suggested. keep the earth tones. i def dont want to make the cue silly and i am not the best with matching colors.

Alex,

Your pin is installed and I will cut the wrap groove for linen tomorrow when the 36 hr. epoxy cures as the pin anchor.

Hi Alex,

Here is a pic of the wrap groove I cut in your cue last weekend.

As you know I have developed a staff infection in my leg and since last Saturday I have not been able to work on even stand a my lathes.

Both your's and Brian's cue should have been ready to ship by today and because of my extreme pain and swelling no work has been done in the last 6 days.

All I have to do is engrave the logo, seal, sand and spray your cue and shaft and It seems like I can get back to work tonight and I will be back on track.

Again, thanks you for your patience and understanding concerning my situation. It is really appreciated.

Rick

Wrap Groove cut and I will do the final sanding and apply the epoxy substrate sealing today.

What? No picture of the leg wound?

No wound. That's what the problem was. I twisted my knee last week and was treating with ice and Advil. All of a sudden I was getting swelling a pain in my shin that was terrorizing.

When I went to the Dr. I was told it was a blood clot or an infection. Tests at the hospital ruled out a clot.

I guess you have the staff bacteria lurking on the flora of your skin and all it takes is a minor scratch and the right condition. We have had days in the 100s here in Chicago with very high humidity.

I could not even walk until today.

All is not good yet but it's is getting better. At least I can sleep now.

Thanks,

Rick

Alex,

Here are two wraps that might look good.

Let me know it there is something else you like or if you like one of these. If you don't go on the lighter side with the wrap, the cue will be very dark do to the ebony and PH.

Don't worry about the lighter wrap getting dirty because it with be sealed in a micro crystalline protectant material that is a killer product.

Rick

White with black spec and beige with brown specs would both look very nice. The brown specs have a little reddish to them and might be more earth tone to contrast the PH.
The cue shown here is Padauk not PH but you can get the image.

Alex,

Here is your cue all sealed with the logo engraved and gap filled. I will sand and clear coat on Wed morning.

Also there is a pic of a cue I build last month that is Padauk a reddish colored wood. The cue showed up today for a Kamui Tip and I was able to take a pic of the wrap I am putting on your cue so you could visualize it. the brown spec earth tone should complement the PH and the ebony points.

I am back on my feet again but my the progress is a little slower than I expected. Thanks again for your patience.

i think this wrap is going to look great on the cue. cue is looking great. real great work. hope you are feeling better.

Alex,

The wide and high points on this cue look real cool in person and I am glad we took the extra days to let that PH set in the sunlight to oxidize and get the UV. It was worth it.

Rick

If it was mine

I would put a black linen wrap on the cue.

Nice job by all concerned.

Ken,

It not too late on the wrap, maybe Alex may take your suggestion. At first I advised him not to go too dark but you are the 3rd person with cue knowledge to suggest that. Choosing a wrap is the hardest thing because it can make ore break the look.

When it comes to fashion or matching colors and stuff, I am a real clod. My wife has to dress me when we go out on the town.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts we will see what Alex does. He has a few more days to change his mind and I am sure things will work out. The wrap on this cue has been an emotional roller coaster for both of us. We want to get it right.

Thanks again,

Rick
