Valley Forge in Passing...

I've always said that as soon as you get to a pool venue, especially Valley Forge because people of all levels are playing, there is automatically an understanding between people whom you've never met. These are just a few quotes that I heard this weekend in Valley Forge from the person next to me at breakfast to the folks walking down the long hallway to the girls talking in the restroom to the people in the pit, etc.:

"Damn he got so lucky..."
"If I only had shot the..."
"I got hooked so I had to..."
"I haven't slept all night!"
"I got the racker!"
"I got the breaker!"
"Did you hear about that fight?"
"My cues were stolen..."
"That's the guy from that movie with Tom Cruise..."
"I'll give you 2 to 1..."
"I got next!"
"*$%#@!!!!!!!"
"Send the cheese..."

Only poolplayers can understand those quotes!

And speaking of which:

Eydie - you have great taste in shoes! ;) It was great meeting you and you're as cool as I thought you'd be

Timberly - it was nice to see you again and everytime I looked at you, you reminded me of Mike Howerton working feverisly on his laptop to get news out to those who couldn't attend. Bravo!

Raildbird - you and your friends were making me laugh during one of the pit sessions. It's nice to see the face behind the posts.

JAM - always a pleasure! You've become, IMO, one of those pool fixtures that in my head makes a pool venue a pool venue, if that makes any sense

Earthquake - love him! We need more, more, more like him!

Voodoo - dude, I've decided that you are my brother from another mother! :D

Fred - cute and hilarious, as always. Love the Instroke case!

Jimbo - you behaved youself Very good...

RichR - loves ya and I can't wait to see your pics!

Eric. - Ricky Winkler has been unleased!

I know I forgot some but I just got in a couple of minutes ago so I'm sure you all I understand. :)

Along with Timberly, it sounds like you had a great time! I love reading about other people tournament experiences! Thanks for sharing! ;)

Hey 9 Ball Girl,

I'm glad you were enjoying all the bantering, actually only one of my friends was with me that night, I just love to have a good time so clowning around with anyone isn't out of character for me.

See ya somewhere, sometime!
Jim

Hey 9BG!

It was so nice meeting you. I wish we would have had more time to talk, Valley Forge needs another day just so people can spend more time with each other.

I must admit that the pictures that you use on this site, don't do you justice. You are so much more stunning in person! ;)

I have a write up that I will post, but things at home are a bit busy since I got home. Hopefully, they will return to what is so called "NORMAL" soon.:(

You're too kind! You've got to come down to VA for the Open. The SBE is an Expo with a little bit of pool where the Open is a lot of pool with a little bit of an Expo. Nonetheless, it's a different kind of a good time!

Loves ya!

9-Ball Girl, I enjoyed reading your post. Some of those lines are truly classics! :D

Though I didn't get to attend the whole SBE this year, arriving on Friday afternoon, I still had a really great time, meeting new friends as well as sharing a few moments with some of the best posters on the Internet, especially from CCB.

BTW, I saw that Hustling Bus out in the SBE parking lot. I did chat with Voodoo Daddy briefly, but never did get to see the Florida player who accompanied him.

I got a chance to taste some of Barbara's nuts. I can only come up with one word for them: YUMMIE! :p

Rich R. and his lovely wife were snapping pictures at the Pro 8-Ball event, and it's always a pleasure running into these two fine posters.

I'm sorry to have missed Eric, and I hope he's allowed back next year. He's definitely one of the good guys in my book.

And what can I say about CarolNYC. She's always a breath of fresh air, making everyone feel welcome at any venue she's working. Though she's a lady pro player, she's also one of pool's greatest contributors, always giving back. She's going to be hosting a charity event for burn victims in NYC in a few months, and I'm hoping to attend this very worthy cause. CarolNYC is an asset to the sport. They don't come any better than CarolNYC.

Get ready for this coming August for the next Allen Hopkins' event at SBE. This is one of pool's greatest events of the year, IMHO.

Thanks Jenn, I feel the same about you and Keith.

Actually, I ran into Keith on Sat. morning at the Wawa convenience store. I woke up bright and early at the crack of Noon, had my hair sticking up and sweat pants on; i was headed home and didn't care ;) He said he was grabbing some aspirin for you, I hope you are feeling better.

Dude, what the hell was your name anyway. And, I prefer Wendy to 'M'ame"! LOL :D

Hey 9 ball girl-
Czarofrockland's real name is Sean. He's an upstate New Yorker. A lot of people from his local room were there and, being the kid of the group (barely 18), every one of them could not help but notice what a degenerate gambler he has become. Gotta love it.

Saturday night, I stood behind him and watched him desperately shout out "I'll take the breaker!", barking to anyone who wanted action. In fact, I even recognized you from your avatar as you sat down on the folding table right in front of me.

In all, it was a decent weekend but, I walked away with no new cues to add to the stash so, I was a bit disappointed. Anyway, see most of ya next year. Look for the skinny guy with the fat gut, a fleece, and a hat who starts lots of problems with people! That's me! :D

"That's the guy from that movie with Tom Cruise" was actually spoken from an older gentleman to his wife while watching Keith play Gypsy (Mark) at the ProAm. The rest of that conversation to his wife was:

"Yeah, he's from that movie, oh what's the name of it, oh yeah The Color of Money. His famous line was 'It's a Damn Shame' or something like that."

I smiled when I heard him say that but I didn't tell him that "It's Like A Nightmare" was the line because I didn't want to mess up his awe of Keith. :o

Hey guys, I got some pics from the expo. Well all the pics are of me with Pros :) But I got 2 videos in there too. One video is of the Action table and the mob right before a rack starts. I found this to be amazing as it was my first year at the expo and never seen anything like that. The other video is of Corey Deuel breaking in the pro event against Johnny Archer.

Great pictures and even greater videos! Especially the Action Table--and that's just the beginning of the crowd forming! There's nothing like it!
