Yeah I booked for the radisson about 3 months ago, I heard they were running low then. There are plenty of other hotels in the area you can stay at. Last year we stayed at the holiday inn express about a mile up the road.

I think I got one of the last rooms available at the Radisson....but only for 3 of the 4 days. Saturday night had been booked a full 2 months before I called to make my arrangements.

I think I'm staying at that Holiday Inn Express on the 4th night.

Should be a good time!!! Not even sure WHY I bothered to get a room....I doubt I'll be sleeping much. At least I'll have a shower!! :) :)

I booked my room at the Radisson on the last day of the SBE while I was there. I initially tried for the Scanticon and it was already booked!!!

from what i understand.. Allan Hopkins books every room at the Scanticon for the dealers and such...

it always amazes me when i hear that other people get a room there.. i cant for the life of me figure out how they do it.. i always get the same answers from everybody there that i talk to and cant get the room... no matter what excueses i use.. lol..

anyways.. this is the first time in about 5 years that i didnt get a room..
i could have had a room like Rat for only a few days.. but we didnt want to go through the hassle of moving and hoping to find another one.. last year.. i had friends that reserved a room at some hotell a few miles away and they over booked so there was a few people who didnt get a room.. and then they found a cheaper hotell and got a room there was litery SH*t on the walls..

so with that in mind, and the fact that we leave the convention for breakfast and dinner, we got a room at the Park Ridge (i think thats the name.. its 2 min's around the block on the main road)..

at the 2006 expo, when i tried to reserve the room upon checking out they told me that i couldnt and i had to wait.. so when we went back in august for the 8ball, they told me i had to use the reservation phones near the gift shop in the radison.. no word of lie, i was on hold for about 15 minutes.. so i gave up and figured i would call when i got home.. i forgot and didnt try to make reservations till sometime in september and they told me then, that i couldnt get all the days.. we usually go down on wednesday and stay till sunday..

overall.. i am deffinatly looking forward to the trip,, its a great vacation thats only 1.5 hours away from home..lol..

The Radison usually holds rooms in reserve for someone who books for several nights. If you call and ask for a room for Thur Fri Sat I believe they would have one. If you want one night you would have to wait until late in the day for that night and then maybe. It is convenient to just walk downstairs, but you can get a better deal at the other local hotels. I stay at the Courtyard which is about 5 miles away. I get a special rate because my nephew works for the company.

I stayed at the Park Ridge Sheraton last year, and I will be staying there again this year. The rooms seemed pretty clean, and everything was well kept. It's only 1/4 mi. away from the expo.

We had no problem reserving a room LAST APRIL! I'm real glad we did now.
I usually reserve mine on Easter wkend since I drive right by it. This yr they were doing construction on the exit ramp and traffic was backed up for a mile. I figured I would wait until the 8 ball event...

I tried to reserve the day I checked out and they wouldn't let me. In Aug, the answer would've been the same even if they had answered the phone. When I tried, you could only get a room for one or two nights and they weren't even consecutive. I'm not about to switch rooms each night.

Not so. I was trying to book for the whole thing.... multiple rooms even. I was told I could have a wed in one type of room, a Fri in one of the fantasy suites, and nothing on Thur or Sat.

Rooms can always be found cheaper.... it just depends on what you're there for. If the party is going on upstairs, you DEFINITELY want to stay on-site. If you're heading back to the room after tournament play, it's not a big deal....

Late Reservation this year...

I must have booked one of the last rooms they had and I did it the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Normally I book a room the week after I get back....but the dates of the 2007 Expo were not "firm" the week I came back. So I forgot to look into it until Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Luckily I got one of the "Suites" on the 15th floor----the only rooms they had left. The only thing is that there is only 1 King Size bed in this room......and it must accomodate 4 guys! Of course I can't tell them that there are 4 guys staying there because then they will charge more. Luckily one of my other friends is going with his fiance and he booked a normal 2-double beds room.........and they are going to trade me rooms.
IMO the Expo is not as much fun if you're not staying at the Radisson/Scanticon. One year I stayed at the Hilton....and it just wasn't as much fun....I make many, many, many trips back and forth between my room and the Expo evey day........but yeah the best thing to do is to book a room the week after returning from the SBE.

i tried to get the fantasy suits.. lol.. they didnt even have them for the entire thing and they were 250 per night...

we thought about staying in one room for wed thur and then the fantasy sweet for friday and sat but they didnt have anything for saturday..

even though i am sure some people will loose on thursday and get mad and leave.. i didnt want to take the chance and get nothing..

and since we leave everymorning for breakfast and at night for dinner, i figured it wouldnt matter if we stayed up the road 2 minutes..

Everyone just remember that all hotels generally overbook. The convention center hotels the last I heard were overbooked by 30 rooms or so. They has prearranged agreements with hotels in Pottstown to do a shuttle, so be where. Check in as early as possible even if the room is not changed over from previous guest.

I am working on getting Jeeves' Room ready. I am planning to be on the 14th floor once again. yes i have rooms already reserved. I should be ready to go Thursday but possibly Wednesday. I am hoping to work with a local restaurant to get wings & fries for Friday night (for you locals Nippers' wings). And of course beverages galore will be there.

FWIW - Since my room at the Radisson is already squared away....and if an upstanding and trustworthy AZB member needs a place to store their stuff and/or take a shower or whatnot, I'm sure we can find some space in the corner of my room (to keep ya from carrying your cue case AND suitcase around at the show).

I have every intention of being down at the show/tourney for most of the time, day and night....and obviously I can't play "security guard" for other people's stuff.....but if you need a spot to tide you over for a bit, there's no reason not to use my room.

I charge one custom cue, per person, per nite!!! :) (yes, I'm kidding....unless you have a new Black Boar....in which case, the fees are non-negotiable) ;)

Seriously, though.....the offer stands to those that need a backup plan.

Now you're scaring me. I'll sleep in the car before I shuttle off to Potswhateveritwas.

Though this will be our 3rd year in the Radisson and we haven't had a problem yet. (knock on wood)
