At this point, I'm not sure if I will make it to the show or not. Right now, my shop is under about 6" of water. I'm pumping it out, but it hasn't stopped raining, so who knows if I'll be able to work tomorrow or not. I have lived here 7 years. I only had water one time. Two or three weeks ago, I had the same problem and was out of commission for 2-3 days while I got things cleaned up. I have about 10 cues I'm trying to finish up and went to get set up to spray this morning.

I opened the door to my spray room and the water was up over the top of my shoes (This is the lowest point in my basement). 20 minutes later, I had water coming into my CNC room. I decided rather than fight the water, I'd hang out with the kids. I just went down to get back to work and the water was the worst I'd ever seen it.

Between the sick wife, sick kids (including trips to the ER with the baby) and the water, I guess I'm lucky to be as close to done on the cues as I am. The last few months have been brutal here. It's always hectic, but lately, there is always something.

Anyway, I'm doing the best I can to finish everything up over the next few days, but I am not going to kill myself. If I get a few cues done, I will make the trip. If not, I won't.

Here's a sneak peak of one of the fancier ones I'm finishing up. This one should make it if I do. Photo was from before I finished the inlays, but that's all you get for now.

Tony,
I hope your wife and kids get well soon. I am sure the AZ family will miss you at the show if you do not make it, but your family is the most important.
All the best to you and your loved ones,
Tom

Thanks Tom. Actually, the wife and kids are fine now. At least the last week or so. A few weeks ago, it was one right after the other getting sick. Somehow I avoided it the last time.

The weather has been abnormal throughout 2010.
Hope everything is fine on your side, Mr Zinzola.

I like the veneer combination on this cue.
Keep the nice work coming through.

Tony, put aside the cue and take care of the family. Keep safe and dry...

I saw the news on CNN...

Your cue is about 1/2 sprayed Blowfish, so it might make it if I do, but that burl takes a bit more finish than a normal cue. I made your shafts yesterday.

I'm really trying to make sure yours makes it with me. Would be easier than shipping it to you.

sorry to hear the news tony...i am looking forward to meeting so many people and you were one of them....but first and foremost is your family and you know that....so wither you make it or not please be safe and i hope all works out....and if the cues your are making dont get finished in time for the expo and the customer doesnt understand then SCREW THEM they dont diserve one of your great hitting cues....mickey carroll

Sorry to hear again the sad New Tony, take a little time to relax before you die.We lost enough good CM Makers. The Weather is in Germany also brutal:mad:
Hope my Case is in the Safe:rolleyes:

Tony...a sump pump in your basement will prevent this ever happening again. Since it rains so much here in the PNW, many of the homes, both older and new, have had sump pumps installed...heck, I have one in the basement of my place...basement doesn't get wet anymore. BTW...since this has already happened, it will very, very likely happen again. The water has already found it's way to egress into your basement.

If it has gotten into your sheetrock, that will all likely need to be replaced, or it will begin to sag, and then there is always the issue with mold.

I guess some of the ol' man's plumbing knowledge has rubbed off on me...LoL.

Really very sorry to hear of this happening...dealing with water damage is NEVER fun. :sorry:

I've got a portable one going now. My uncle is coming from Seattle next month and we're going to install a permanent one. We were actually going to build a workshop in the spring, but now my wife is talking about finding a new house in the next year or two, so I'll wait until then.

I haven't been downstairs yet this morning, but from the sounds of things outside, it can't be good.

Ralf, your case is safe. I know better than to leave things on the floor and your case is actually upstairs, so it doesn't get dirty. Let me know if you have somebody you want me to give it to at the Expo. If for some reason I don't go, I can have somebody take it with them.

I was only planning on bringing two cues this year anyway because last year I didn't have anything finished on time. Along with the two, I had a few deliveries to make. One of the two definitely won't make it. Some of the deliveries might not either.

Thanks

I would rather have had snow. I'm going to VF come hell or HIGH WATER. A sump pump is keeping up with the water coming in, but not making progress. I'll feel guilty as hell if I have to leave my wife with a wet basement come Thursday AM, but ...
Steve.<== Slept about 5 hours in the last 48.

I'm working in water right now. The only really bad part of my basement is the area where I do my spraying. If I move the pump or it gets clogged, it fills right back up with water in a few minutes. My feet are wet, cold and I'm ready to kill somebody. I hope nobody decides to make a surprise visit.

At this point, the only cues I might have ready are the one I pictured, Steve Lipsky's, a donation cue for the tournament and one plain cue.

I guess after watching the news last night, I was pretty lucky.

Geez Tony...that is some serious dedication!! I hope things start drying out in the NE for y'all soon!!! Just be careful about immersion foot! Guessing Wellingtons aren't real big in NE.

I spoke with tony yesterday. He has purchased a john boat and a slicker. Work on the cues will resume shortly when he can find a floating extension cord.

Fishing at Lake Zinzola

I heard Balabushka was quite a stilt walker in the rainy season.
